I'd love to see him slam the brakes on that thing and himself in the nuts.

He built two of those things, the first one I believe was the one that developed a "wobble' at a demo and he piled it hard. I think it was on Discovery a few years ago. :squiggle:

I love South Park but that was just wrong on so many levels. A must see!
I think they thought the thing was 'gay'.

You might catch it on TV this month!
It was re-run on Discovery this week. Part of the show
"Monster Garage" (Episode Monster Nation 1... I think)
Showed he developed 3 different sizes of machines. 1 @ 6ft diam.!
The V-8 was Olds powered? & showed how he dumped it in front
of his house on home video. Actually IT dumped HIM!
Said it almost killed him.
Like any inventor, he didn't quit & figured it needed more
"downforce wing" etc. It was only a 5-6 minute part of the
show, but very interesting.

I wanna know what size tire that is. (And where does one go to get a tire like that in the first place?) :p

FM, that contraption has a wide flat tire keeping him from falling sideways. He's going quite slow ,which allows him to control torque to keep him level. If he floored it, he would end up behind that thing :D .The problem with the V-8 cycle is ,it meant to go faster than the dude's in JBB's video. When you have a large diameter wheel like the v-8 unicycle's , the gyroscopic action creates a problem trying to turn. The unicycle I've posted ,was built by my friend's dad [ founder of Cap's cycle] and have problem turning it at the fraction of the speed that V-8 can do :coffeycup

I imagine if he floored that thing he would look like a fly being swatted on the ground....Bang!.... :D

Thank-you spectras only. :) I wondered why the guys seat seemed to lift at one point; I thought he had a lever adjusting it but from what you said it's cuz he increased his speed slightly? I know when a coin rolls it goes straight but falls over if it veers off on a turn is that kinda what happens with the unicycles? Wonder if they'll ever figure out a way to get them to turn safely/easily. They sure look cool, anyway.

FM, a coin has low mass ,so it has to roll fast to stay up while turning. The larger a wheel's diameter ,the more stable it's at low speed to stay upright. There was a full size car with two wheels back in the 20's that stayed up with a gyroscope spinning inside .They lowered the training wheels before stopped the engine.

Oh. :) I get the feeling my 8 year old son would understand this better than I do! LOL! :D :squiggle: I've never heard of that car before but it sounds cool too. Why'd they quit making it?

I guess some folks failed to put the training wheels down too often :D
