One of my bathroom doors has a buildup of hairspray on it and nothing seems to be able to cut through it. Any ideas on how to remove it. I've tried most of the basic household cleaners.

I think it will work. It won't harm dry paint if it is used on a rag. Don't saturate it or smoke while you use it, but we use it to clean up 'finger goo' on cabinet doors, it is a great solvent....
I assume the door was painted, not clearcoated wood....that might be a bad thing to use it on.

The sticky stuff in that Aqua Net you use is laquer...so laquer thinner should work (or "Goof Off").
:D

You'll get more if you part them out.

Easy. :D rubbing alcohol will take it right off (or nail polish remover). Try not to take a swig of either while cleaning

Hair shampoo gets it out of hair maybe it'd take it off the door?

A new hollow core door should do the trick.

The rubbing alcohol seemed to work the best out of about ten different things I tried. One thing I'm going to do is paint all my trim and doors with oil base instead of Latex. Guess I'll clean my base boards next week.

Try one of those Mr. Clean Magic Eraser thingys. Those things clean everything without damaging it. I keep a box in the boat for the interior.

Somebody here at the shop told me that earlier. I'm going to get some of them.
