Was having a brief discussion with an outa state carne asada and Filipi's Pizza lovin mofo of a boardmember about advantages and disadvantages, and I though we'd ask the ya'll your thoughts...
So Ilmore 625 or TCM900, which do you favor and why? 28-30ft deckboat running just above sealevel :D

Well, if they were the same price, I would go with more hp...pretty simple equation to me....even with the possible drive issues...

there is a deck at lavey getting a new tcm 900 put in looks pretty sick.i guess it depends if you want to go 80mph or 100+ mph.

I agree. But the savings on the 625 will be HUGE. As well as longevity and reliability, or so I think?

yea thats what i thought also on my 620.

I think they want to ski and wakeboad too half the time.

I know they do a TON of watersports and will like the versitility of the deckboat, but I KNOW he likes to go FAST as his last boat was a sleeper...
Do you like carne asada? :D

I think that Teague will make you a deal for the 625 with his Platinum XR drive for a fairly reasonable figure and it will have a full 1-year warranty.
I personally would also be considering the good old insurance hassles and premiums that the added HP and speed will undoubtedly bring. :crossx:

Under normal circumstances I'd say yea, but not this time...lol

Price being = I'd go with the 900...
Now that we're in reality here and all things are not = . I think I'd go with a Teague 620 (similar to what Boatnam had before it had issues) before either of them.
Or to throw in another factor, a small shop out in OK called Marine assault custome engines could probably get you more bang for the buck, as well as the longevity requirements.

Good point... Thinking of torque and how quickly I can get the boat up around 85mph.....

900 no doubt, there are parts available almost anywhere for a BB Chevy and alot of shops that will work on them.

What kinda speed does boatnam get?
And I forgot about Infomaniac... One of his complete packages could work out nicely....

I don't know to be honest.. Never really ran it past 80 in his old boat, and the motor had some issues before I ever got a chance to go in his new one?

Geez...I guess the gig is up. Good try Roz....it was good while it lasted. I think the boat will do 85 with the 625, insurances will be totally doable, reliability will be good, longevity will be 5x...what did i forget....oh, the $15k savings from the get go.

I think JRocket brought up a good point. Is there a shop relatively close to you that will service the Illmore?
Marine Assault isn't too, too far....

the deck boat with the little bit i got to drive it went just under 80mph with 4 people and 100 gallons of gas.since im rebuilding it anyways may put a little more pop in it.

Pretty cool incintive/warrenty program. I would never use the 675 due to the weight comps to the Ilmore. The 900 is $28,600 plus $5,500 for the install kit. Less, IF, in 6 months no problems..$4000 Which is within a couple tho of GTs 900.

28 Magic Deck. I was just tossing the 900's from GT and TCM around when Darrin calls back and said he can fit the Ilmore motor in.....now things have changed. So thats why the thread.

I'll bet it would fit in a Conquest! No room issues there! Oops, there I go again; Decisions, decisions.
Serious note: Did Darrin finally wake up? My theory is (and he'll tell you) that since they don't work on commission there, they are not worried about selling month to month.

I think Darrin was just buried with orders. We really talked quite a bit before I was ready and when I said go he was slammed. At this point, now that my BP has come down, I have to give him a chance.....he put up with all my kah-rap.

any links to info on the 625HP Ilmor on the web? I can only find the 550 model?
I think when I stopped by Teague last they said the 550+platinum drive was 40K for the package? Sound right? What is the 625 going for?
What's a 525 Merc+XR go for?

Blacksheep

Straight from Ilmor as I just bought the 550 with a new cat!!
As to the investment for an Ilmor package:
Engine/Drive/Transom - 550 $ 46,780.00
625 50,800.00
Please consult your boat builder as the list price of power normally is a point of flux when they quote a boat.
Thanks!
