I just replaced all of the old s/w gauges with autometer. I had an amp gauge and replaced it with a volt meter gauge. All I have left to do is wire the alternator and I'm lost. The Alt. has 3 wires attached to the external regulator and a 10 gauge wire that used to be attached to the old amp gauge. Does anybody have a wiring diagram or some heplful info for me.

Best way to solve your delima is to buy a new interigrated delcotron with an internal regulator. Hook up one # 10 wire to the battery, and you're done.

Duane gave you the simplest sollution but if you have to use a 3 wire type, 3rd post down here will hook you up. Dont forget the diode or the ignition wont kill the engine.

I had the same problem.
Here is the thread (http://www2.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74499&highlight=alt)
Look down to the bottom. Some one gave a part number for a Auto Zone alt. I got it and its a very close match. Very minimal modifications.
