In the new Powerboat magazine, Bob Teague talks about iron heads dropping valve seats due to gasoline with methanol or oxygenated fuel resulting in higher combustion temperatures. He says that could result in exhaust seats to loosen or fail.
Did you ever find out the source of your failure? This is an interesting theory.

havent talked to bob yet he is out of town all week, but they say it got hot which is what caused the seat to fail.this is not true and i only run in arizona which doesnt use methanol or oxegenated gas.so i will be curious what he has to say about it.i know for sure the mfg of the head is not going to do anything about it.
