Hey all..
Just got back from the river (and getting towed back in)... found that I have a bent valve and an apparently screwed rocker arm.
I'm going to tear into it tonight, but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on what would cause ONE valve to bend (stuck open about 1/2")???
#6 exh. valve, BBC, merlin heads, crane gold roller rockers, solid roller cam/lifters. All valves look fine, except for that one (on initial inspection).

Could be anything...broken spring, failed keeper, stuck valve, etc. Tell us what you find because it may be reason for you to inspect the rest of the valve train for the same symptoms while you're in there.

Yeah, look at the associated valve hardware, spring(s), keeper, retainer.
The motor doesn't have aluminum rods, does it?

Too many variables to guess at this point. #6 works for a living. Get the head off.

Yeah man, you need to just take a look and figure it out based on the "forensic" evidence. Too many people in here like to shoot their mouth off for their own ego and not really to help you. The more information you give the forums, the better the direction you will get.

i heard a little something about the Merlin heads wanting to loose exhaust seats. that may be the culprit aswell. like mentioned, remove the head.

What did you end up finding on this?
