I am tired of looking and I'm sure your tired me asking about boats...
Insurance on this is only $375/year!
Thanks,
Lake Ape!

That might be a little bit high.....but it is a Howard and they do seem to hold their resale value pretty good.
Good luck.

According to NADA (http://www.nadaguides.com/Values/ValueReport.asp?UserID=44d72dca-9eea-4280-9392-1381e8c87bcb&DID=38461&Type=MR&GCode=MR&wPg=1107&wSec=4&Letter=H&Com=0771&Year=1995&Model=1600089346) it seems kind of low for average retail. It's a Howard and if it is in perfecct condition, I'd say jump on it!

I would say that is a good price for that style Howard, especially if it is really clean.

Like they say, there is an ass for every seat.
Seriously though, that seems pretty good. You may want to have a mechanic give the motor a once over to make sure it's in good shape.

Jump on that. The Howard 21' rides pretty nice. I sold my 1987 21' Lavey with a 460/OMC King Cobra for $14,250. It was very clean and had a restored trailer.
Price seems fair if its super clean. I don't think you will find a better boat for the money.

I think it is a good deal based on the shape and the fact that it is a Howard 21 Cruiser....get a compression check done and get r done...

Cool, thanks guys! Anyone know how this boat rides? What should the top speed be? I am trying to get the owner to take me to the lake for a test drive...
That is a great price.
My brother just sold his 1985 Howard 20 1/2 (v-drive). Was immaculate and had a whippled 454. He got ~$35K.

I think you plugged it in wrong, it's got an outdrive on it, not a v-drive.

With that in mind do you still think it's a good deal?

Sorry about that. It is a Howard though and if it is in perfect condition, then I don't think the price is too far out of line when compard to average retail.

Is it a carbed 454 or fuel inj.? I bought my 1989 23' Howard for a little less than that about 4 years ago. Boat was in excellent shape as well. I thought it was a lot of money but after talking to Mike up at Howard and lots of others I was told that "I stole it." Mine with a bone stock (original motor from 1989) carbed 454 runs 71 on gps. I think it is a good deal on great quality boat. Definately have the guy take you for a ride.

It should run a solid 60-65 mph. 71mph sounds real fast for a stock 454 on an old-school v-hull but it may be a faster hull than I thought. The color is not the best but the boat is a good boat for the money. Take $20k with you and offer $17k. If he freaks, give him $19k. I don't think he would walk on $19k unless the boat just came out in the Trader.

That boat would run 60 all day long with a big block. :D It's practically the same hull as the 20.10 spectra ,and those ran 60 with a 350/alpha combo.I wouldn't hesitate buying it close to that sum [20K] if it's as perfect as it looks in the pic. ;)

I can't believe that you guys don't like the color! In person it looks even bluer! I have an old dark grey colored CVX-20 now and it gets really, really hot in AZ sun.

Dude, as hideous boat color schemes go....that one has nothing to be ashamed about. At least it's not turqoise and pink :D
mirvin
My Brother had a rainbow color scheme and was often called the "Gay Pride" boat. Don't say that outloud in the bench racing forum.
And the blue definitely beats the teal and pink jobbies!
