I run a 'B' with my 454, which sounds a little milder than your motor. The most important thing is to keep your motor above the power curve of the impeller aal long as possible. It wont matter if you make 900hp at 8000 rpm if you cant pull 300 at 4000 or so. Ask this one on WWW.REALJETBOATS.COM, (http://WWW.REALJETBOATS.COM,) there is tons of good info there.

the 460 ford has about 500 footpound torque at around 2800-3200 RPM.I would run minimum an "A" impeller, but you mentioned 9.5 comp ratio [8.5 for standard 460],you could go up to a "AA" imp no problem.I have a 429 Cobra Jet with 9.3 comp ratio and "AA" imp and pull up 3 skiers on two skis with my boat weighing at 3000 pound plus people and some gear.I'm sure your pump is the culprit and you would have no problem after a pump rebuild.

Use an A empeller, with a good blueprint, a ford motor has a lot of torq, to get more speed, put on a place deverter, change your manifold to a stealth and add a 850 double pumper. Jim Brock Cyclone Speed & marine (818) 890-1867

I would suggest you contact Dons Pump Service located in Columbus Ohio. He's done a lot of pump design and modification work over the years, has designed jet alterations, and is a well known ex-jet racer. Contact him at Donspumpservice.com There is a lot involved in using the proper impeller for your application. Give him the particulars he asks for and he will steer you right. Good luck!

I HAVE A STOCK 460 FORD WITH MSD IGNITION, STOCK CAM, STOCK INTAKE, 850 DOUBLE PUMPER, IN A 19' TAHITI. THE PUMP IS FRESH LAST YEAR WITH A "B" CUT ON THE IMPELLER, AND IT RUNS 55-60 @ ABOUT 4500. WITH YOUR COMBO I WOULD DEFINITLEY RUN A "B" CUT.
WHAT RPM ARE YOU RUNNING AT?
