So which way to the river is faster:
The 10 to Dessert Center or the 10 to the 62 through 29 Palms Yucca Valley to the 177? Which do you prefer?
Went the 62 this past time, and it seemed much faster!

I take the 10 to vicksburg road then up to the 72 to the 95 and up. 2 hours to Parker, 3 to Havasu. ;)

The way you went last time.
The 10 to the 210 to the 5 to the 14 to the 58 to the 40 and finally on the 95 in to havasu 9 hours later......

I go Hwy 79S to Anza Hwy to 74 through Palm Desert to Frank Sinatra Blvd to Cook Street to 10E to 177 to 62 to Big Bend on the CA side of Parker Strip. 214 miles, pretty easy 3:10 minutes almost every time, coming and going.
But, I live on 79S at Redhawk in Temecula, so I'm well ahead of the game. If I go out to the 15 and go the normal way, it's more like 245 miles.
Stop telling everyone about this route :lightsabe .....except I just stay on Monterey to get back to the 10....whether I'm towing or not it still beats the traffic nightmare on the 10/61/215 or even 79N.

Ok, IMHO taking the 62 thru Yucca sucks...way to many stop lights to deal with, then the up/down grades til you get to the 177. Then you gotta wait for all us Rice roaders to speed past the intersection before you can merge. Dangerous spot if you ask me.

My lake is about 50 miles from my city. It takes me about an hour to get from my front door, out of town, and into the driveway at the lake.
On nice days, I like to leave work at 4 pm (30 minutes early) and head to the lake for a couple of hours of boating. I'm there by 5 pm... sunlight until 9 ish... and home by 10:30, including cleaning up the boat and putting it away. :)
Havasu and Parker seemed like great places to get around by car but LA driving was shit. I don't know how you guys do it.

Per the GPS Maps...going through Yucca is the shortest...but like Zig says..the damm traffic signals and slower speed limits will kill ya not to mention merging at the 177 junction...
Desert Center/Rice Road is 8 miles longer....but ya don't have the traffic signals to deal with....
Going via Erehnberg is 19 miles longer than the 62 route...but is probably the safest route...

We usually make a quick potty stop at Mobil going and AM/PM coming home. My kids are 5 and 2.
Got to have those potty stops..LOL My youngest is 11 so its not quite as troublesome..our normal pee stop is to the south off Rice exit. There's even a trash can to put our trash in up there :D

That is one of the longer ways, but I have been traveling it lately. Much safer for sure, an extra 10-20 min but at least there is a shoulder on the side of the road (that is not quick sand) shall something happen
29 Palms only taken if you are not in a hurry and like many stops.

Left on California Avenue, right on Riverside Drive. Left at the other Riverside Drive.
10 minutes top. (with snowbird traffic)
If I leave from work, I'm already there. :D

My wife has a bladder the size of a walnut. Believe me, where the bathrooms are during the trip definately factor into my decision on which route to take.
Well traveling with Art...he just pulls over and either pops the hood like he's checking something or opens up MY door and the cab door and pisses where ever he feels... he has a pissing problem.
