We went to Lake Corona Saturday for a 24 hr fishing thingy. The kids in the campsite next to ours found a baby squirrel covered with ants and ice cold. So, being the sucker for animals that I am, I took him, warmed him up and now he lives in my shirt and has to be fed with a syringe every 2 hours. He thinks I'm his mom and his name is.........Maverick. He is very cute by the way. Hope my boss understands that the squirrel will be old enough soon to stay home. :)

If the boss doesn't understand, you can always move the squirrel into your pants. Who would say anything then?

Hi Topless, your intensions are honerable but keep in mind that they can carry many dieases. It may all cute and cuddley but not the best idea for a pet!! You don't want to go through the rabie shot ordeal. Don't let any kids near it. They won't tell you if it bites or scratches them. Trust me! I have kids and I've been through it. While you were fishing, you should have put on a big hook and stuck that baby on it and thrown it out into the lake for that record catfish!! Just kidden!! Please be careful and get rid of it !!

It's a wellknown fact that squirrel...is a giraffes favorite food!

Have a friend who found an abandoned baby squirrel. Cared for it for a few days, then turned it into a wildlife sanctuary, where they cared for it but intended not to get it too humanized and intended to release it.
A few weeks ago, cleaning stalls, they found 2 baby rabbits. So small they had little hair on them...back to the wildlife sanctuary again!
If you decide not to keep it, there is a sanctuary in Modjeska canyon (OC) and one in Murietta (Santa Rosa Eco preserve) or call Renee at Norco Animal control, I am sure she would be happy to help. Good luck and thanks for helping the little critter.

heed what people say here. Some pretty nasty diseases wild animals carry that could cause some serious symptoms. Not a laughing matter though I commend you on saving an animal. Check online or with a wildlife goup, I don't want to scare youwith what could happen.

That's so sweet....but really..............they do carry many dieases! Find a Vet or rescue organization that will take him. You really do not want to end up being treated for something.....or better yet your kids!

Yeah, you don't want the squirrel to rip off someone's nuts and foot like what happened a few weeks ago with the chimp. :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :D
