So you are going with the 502MPI Whipple combo?

A friend of mine has an XR and he's running about 700hp. He has around 50 hours and has not had a problem.

I run a 502/Whipple. Not sure what you meant about the easiest???, but Dustin Whipple frequents this board and Offshoreonly.com...Do a search on Whipple on this board and you will see what others say as well.

Dallas,
I'm running an XR on my HTM. 572 With a stage 3 procharger. Aprox 850 HP I did put pretty tall gears (1.26) in the drive. This allows me to run a 26P-28P lab finished props. Gives me a good hole shot. Without stressing the drive. I have about 40Hrs. on this combo no problems yet. Hope this helps!!

my boat came with the xz drive. what's the major differences between the drives (in language that a regular person can understand)? by drives i'm talking about the bravo 1, xz and xr. i'm only running 470hp and have been told i should have many many trouble free hours since that amount of power won't even make the drive break a sweat.

I guess I should consider myself one of the lucky ones, I ran 650-700hp through a bravo 1 for 7 years w/out any problems. When it finaly did go it went big, lost the shaft, the prop, and tore everything up inside. Only $2500 fix though. We did a lot of h20 skiing also.
