Had the system installed by a friend who just opened up a new stereo shop and decided to let him do my system. From day one the system was not up to my standards. Since then I have replaced some of the equipment but this system has been a money pit. I got estimates from 3 stores and wanted about $800 bucks to do the rewire and re located the amps. So I decided to take the project on myself. After pulling out the old wire my buddy used 10 gauge power/ground wire and 18 gauge speaker wire. I changed it to 4 gauge power/ground wire and 14 gauge speaker wire with copper ends and a new fuse breaker rather than glass fuses. Here are some before and after pic's...
This guy was not very clean in the way he wired the boat:

But with a little love and tlc (and lots of beer) I tried my best to organize it.

This to me is probably a 6 out of 10 but not nearly as bad and much better than it was before...Thanks to all who gave suggestions in the audio/visual section of the board. This took me a total of about 7 hrs to do. Never installed a radio or an amp before. The system sounds much better.

Damn, and your friend does that kind of work from his shop??? It's amazing the difference from using the right type of wire does.

I always use proper gauge wire in my stereos. The the power wires going to my amps if ty rapped together are about 1.5" to 2" in diameter. Almost looks like I could power up the block in my neighborhood.
Tour setup looks alot cleaner than before. Jesus I would not wire a single LED light less than a foot from the battery with 18 gauge wire.
