Are the Barry Grant carbs any good? I'm thinking of buying a 850 mighty demon, but don't know a thing about them. Are they the same as a holley dp.

Way better!! When I ordered mine (850 Mighty Marine Demon with Annular Boosters) I called Tech Support, gave them my engine size, cam & exhaust, they dialed in the carb dead on, had to adjust the idle and that was it.

Did you order it right from Barry Grant? I know Summit and Jegs sell them.

499.00 at Summit. Are they double pumpers? If so thats a damn good price. Beats Holley`s 4150 by a mile.

Mine is a marine DP. I wish I'd have checked ebay before I bought it, there is a guy there selling them way cheaper than all the mail order places. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7970485061&category=33550

It is a different size fuel inlet. If you purchase one on e-bay you'll get a fre one. But there are different ones so choose wisely.

I should also say that I owned a speed demon and I was very saisfied with it .Demons' tech line advised me that I would be better off with the MIGHTY DEMON Annular booster for my specific application though, so I sold the speed demon and am now looking at e-bay for my next purchase.

i've been running two mighty demon 850s for the past 2 1/2 years. performance on the dyno was excellent, and wot performance has been everything expected. i especially like the little things the demons come with, like the bowl windows for adjusting float level, knurled knobs for the mixture screws, socket heads for the bowls.. very easy to work on.
however, we've also had to work through some issues with these things. some people do, some don't. i've talked to other guys that had zero problems..
if you're getting help from bg tech, that's great. they haven't really been much help with my little gremlin, but i've got more things to try. these things don't tune the same as holleys.
i should also say we have been able to win a number of races and a couple championships with these things, so it's not all bad. i just want perfection :D

be careful buying carbs from Ebay.......make sure they are an 'authorized dealer' or you will ger zero warrantee. Alot of the too good to believe deals on ebay are guys that buy carbs from the manufacturer that are out of spec or have machining flaws.....casting flaws....etc. then these guys attempt to correct problems and pawn them off to the public.
Buyer beware......if it seems too good or too cheap to be true......most of the time it is. I am not by any means saying don't buy carbs from ebay. Maybe ask the seller if he/she is an authorized dealer and make sure you are buying a brand new carb in the box and not one that has been culled by the factory and 'remanufactured' by someone else

Right on. Call sSummits tech line with a part number. It can`t be a marine carb without J vents. I`m gonna spend the extra 40 at Summit. EBAY blows.

Ok, I'm sold on buying a mighty demon carb, but does anyone know the part number for the long "blue" fuel inlet tube? If I get two of these tubes I can make the fuel line on my holley work.
I would buy a new fuel line but I already paid 80 bucks for the one I got. I know I know ....cheap ass

I bought a 850 Mighty Demon with annular boosters. While I was at it, I also picked up a new Carter mechanical fuel pump CRT-M60882.
I bolted the carb and fuel pump on tonight. I need to go to the speed shop tomorrow and pick up some braided line and fittings.
My wife is going to kill me, but at least the boat will be done.
Anyone have a room for rent..........lol
