Was in the 1st Gulf, I was making about $3K/mo not counting any of my special duty pay. My wife is in the miltary, 18 years, BS degree, Masters, and only brings home about $4k/mo. She leaves for the desert in a month and will be there for a year. She could be making around $75K/yr in private sector, yea she's over paid in the military, about the only good thing is my daughter medicine runs about $10k/mo and the military pays, but so would private insurance..
