Quick question..I know DCB is a kickass boat and rigged to perfection,,how will it handle with twin 200optimax ..speed??..also ok for light chop..when does it become uncomfortable stablity wise,,example 1-2ft..2-3..?I plan on using it where there will not be much large crusier wake etc..

I really can't tell you about the speed with the 200 optimax motors but I would guess around 100 mph. The Mach 22 handles great in 1-2 foot chop and maybe even a little bigger. If the chop gets bigger just get on top of it and keep the speed up. If you plan on using it where there is not much big chop it should be an awesome set-up. I have a DCB Mach 22 with Drag motors.

I was told by Dave at DCB that this boat will push high 90's maybe 100's in ideal cond's. The cool thing about those motors are that they are VERY reliable, oil injected, and I think they are still under the extended warranties that the orig owner purchased??? (not for sure though). The bad part about that 2001 is the front seats, the three across front seat is kinda lame! and the gray gel coat is a love it or hate it thing! If you want a awesome deal contact Stan at www.carismacars.com (http://www.carismacars.com) he has a VERY nice 98 MACH22 with stock 280hp 2.5's with only apx 30 hrs on them. the boat is very loaded with extra options. its a steal in the mid 50K's. Scoot69 flew up and looked at this boat. said it was nice...few little chip and usage, but very worth the money.....tell stan hello from me..toby

So I take it that Scoot69 didnt buy Stan's boat? What was his reason for not getting it.Do you have any idea?...I really like Stan's boat but dont really want that huge insurance premium. But there are days when I just want to say F it and fly up there to see it.....SO confusing...John :)

I told him for about half of a new one he should buy it! If my wife to be wasnt so set against twin outboards I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT a few months back. so she would only let me get a new 2003 with a single 300X...she is soooo mean wink :D

I still may make stan an offer but am reluctant for a few reasons. First and foremost, no warranty. second, its now 5 years old and beginning to show its age with dated gear and wear and tear and minor stains in cockpit. Third, 2.5's arent oil injected and are less drivable than 300x's. Fourth, steering wheel is on wrong side and I prefer hand throttle. Fifth, not my first choice in colors. All that said, its in nice shape for a 5 year old boat and will likely last a long time. If I dont get a new boat thats my first choice for a used 22 if the price is right. 55k is too high when for 20k more you can get a brand new cougar set up the same way with full warranties and colors etc of your choice. Send me a private email if you need any more info. Tob give me a call and ill tell you about what im doing.

If you buy a tunnel with the stock 200 motors, you will need to send your gearcases to Bob's Machine shop in Florida (or similar shop) for nosecone/LWP and heavy duty bearing carriers. I have been through the gearcase headaches several times and it isn't fun. This is the one downside to stock motors. The 280hp Merc's come fully equipped to run and last (ie...already have the upgraded carrier and nosecone/lwp). Good Luck

I have seena few nightmare posts once you mention over certain speeds....and these are known for SPEED......from what I have seen and been told insurance is more tricky with a twin outboard tunnel, even more so if its only a 22 footer that can reach speeds of 100MPH or more. Thats why im getting a superslow single 300x wink if your paying 950 a year now expect about 2 1/2 to 3 times as much. The gray 22 is very pretty! I really dont mind the gray either, and yes you can change it and get rid of the center seat. You will have to either have the outside seats recoverd or have custom "oh-shit bars" made in the back where there is a bar now going into the seats. it does have a ton of options, But for what that boat costs you could have a brandnew 2003 with a Single 300X loaded with everything you could ever want! Your own colors/design in the gell coat, ect! AND A FULL WARRANTY!!!! I also know of two nice used MACH22 with 300's, one is a 2002 with a 300x for 55K obo and a 2000? with a 300promax for 49K obo.
BTW: the twin 200's is only going to be 3-5 MPH faster than a new single 300x! I was told by someone high up at DCB that the extra weight of that motor is killing this boat! IF you are going to have a twin DCB22, you have to have 2.5's!

Thanks Mike..did ya run that hydro yet ??Have not had a chance to run it yet. I might run it on Thxgvg when I down at the river next time...so are you thinking of a Mach 22? Go twins if you get one. KAB knows alot about these, so heed his advice. Also, go 2.5's or at least 225X motors if you don't want to mix Gas. Stan's is a clean boat, so is the grey one...but you have to see the grey one in person; it is not so much the Grey, but the other colors against the grey kind of look Bass Boatish.. Anyway's good luck...another thought is the Cougar. There rigging is pretty tight and they are dealing these days boats (dropped their prices %20 to %30)...There is another Cougar 22 owner on the board 22 MTR (I think thats his name)..ask him for advice..

I run a 21 Liberator with twin 2.5's at 124mph. I sell them, and all I can tell you is that if the Optimaxs don't turn over 6500rpm, which I don't think they do, you won't be close to 100 even with 34 inch props. I've got an Opti 225 on a boat that redlines at 5750rpm. Good luck
