Trust me, I would love nothing more than to tell people I am in the high 70's or low 80's, but it ain't even close to happening at this point. Granted, motors not broken in yet, pretty heavy fuel load, maybe not trimmed to full potential, maybe over-propped at present and whatever else, but doubt all that is making that much of a difference.

I would think our hulls are fairly similar and I am running 26's, just didn't make exact note of where I was at on the tach, other than I know I was not bumping the rev limiter. My props rotate out, if that matters. 80 seems very strong, but I could certainly do without the chine walk :hammerhea

My props rotate in now to help with the bow lift. I have experimented with them out and the "dock speed" handling is greatly improved. I plan to try the Hydromotive P5X props and have them tweeked for a little more bow lift and then run them out.
And Dicudmore you are welcome on the boat if ya can handle it :D

yeah thats true my babys momma I mean Mrs Kilr does look good when shes on my boat.
INS the difference in the props rotating in or out is speed vs slow speed control. If the props rotate out you have more slow speed control at the docks if they rotate in you will get alittle more lift=speed but less slow speed control. I hope I got that in the right order. HH jump in here am I right

YOU LOOSE! the chine walk is not affected much if at all by the rotation of the props in this case. I am not that much of an expert to say that is true in all cases though.
It is a matter of a V hull that is way out of the water and rolling onto the chines. Could be a low X dimension, the play in the cable/hyd steering or a couple of other things - dare I say the hull design comes into play as well
I have spent a lot of time on Offshore Only.com on this topic and talked to many knowledgable folks about it. Complicated subject it turns out. Lots of trial and error. Most folks (according to two sources) "Cheat" by using tabs to cure the walk..

NO bs'ing on this, I promise.
INSman, what RPM's are you turning with those props? Also, on your trim indicator where are you running it? i.e. 5,6,7?? Just curious...

I know I was at 5+ on the trim every time I went to run hard and was fairly high on the rpm's, just forgot the exact number and will pay very close attention next time out, guessing at 4,800 or so.

Blane it prob won't lose speed as you hit the point of over-trim, but look out the back, it WILL start to throw a roost (prob over-trimmed at that point  ) you might also get some porpoise...

I had a boat with a single engine that would chine walk at speed. If I tucked the drives a little, the chine walk would go away, but I couldn't achieve the maximum speed.
Does trimming yours in effect the chine walk? Kinda like a cat that porposis (sp?), tuck the drives and it sometimes goes away.

Blane, take that trim up to 7-8 ish+, you should feel it break from the water As far as the RPM's, don't know what the rev limiter is on those motors... but trimming it high you'll notice a difference...

If I tuck the drives on a triple step V I run the risk of not only bow steer but spinning out on turns - Steps need positive trim. If I trim way up, the walk gets worse because more of the hull is out of the water....
Blane, I will loan ya my 28's for a couple of hours on the weekend of the 20th if ya like and will share my experience in driving my V. May be a little different but not too much.

I still think no one really cares as the survey said BUT
I do find this post informative since it shows the process of the boat building and stages makes it pretty interesting for those who always wondered how they are built.Do post more of this.

Okay, so I just switch to rotate out and should work ??
The props can work on either side and just shift the Bravos in the direction ya want. i.e. if they turn out now and ya want to try in, switch props side to side and shift in reverse to go forward and vice versa. When ya figure out how ya want them to run, change the shift cables cause the Bravos can run forward or back - no difference.
