Have you noticed the lenght of the turnbuckles, they are all the same lenght. Those are not the real heavy duty ones and if you were to put long ones on the ones in the center would break, thus the reason for taller plate bosses toward the center!..

The pic may be a bit deceiving, the bosses are actually pointing straight up, the pad is at an angle similar to mine!..

I'm not tallking about bind. I'm talking about the fact that as the turn buckle pushes down, it also pushes back, since it's not at a right angle to the cav plate, and not pointing straight down. This back- pushing wants to push the plate pad rearward as well as push down on it. I'm talking forward and aft motion, not side to side. The closer the turn buckle is to the plate, (the shorter the plate pad) the less leverage the plate pad has on the bolts attaching it to the plate. With those long plate pads sticking up like that, I'm just sayin that it's not ideal. There's a lot of unnecessary stress there, and eventually asking for a failure.

yep, one dad and i built. also have the original date code 327, and glide. Has a factory steel cowl hood on it now...but have the original hood as well. Lots of original goodies. :D and after market goodies :D

Actually, no, it wasn't a race boat. It came from somewhere down SoCal area. I got it from a guy that got it from the original owner. It's got the original gel.

Did Ron and Clay get enywhere with their Bahner?? Was it a drag boat? I'd love to contact someone who raced one and get a little insight. I have yet to meet anyone who raced one, and only know of one other one around. Mine's getting a make over right now. This boat's name was "Illusions", but never raced. The boat hauled ass for what it was ,110 with a aluminum head 468 in the late eighties then clay put a big old motor in it so yes it ran well Harold bruce did the pump and bottom it was a njba regular .
