Hey Thanks alot everyone. Hey Gary, You should take Predator up there for some cold water running! Tunnel Visions boat is nice I've seen him in several poker runs and hes always near the front, ofcourse behind predator! Hey SSTahoe, we'll have to hookup for some fun. I'll be staying in the keys. Whats the best route for towing from LA(I usually take 395 but there might be to many grades???

You still could go 395 to highway 50 Spooner summit at the south end of carson city then back track through Stateline to the keys that is the way I go. I think you could go 5 to Sacramento then 80 which will take you to a long way, or 88 to Mayer's pass that goes right to the keys, don't go to highway 50 that way though....what size boat do you have??

you take 88 to 89 (Mayers passs) that goes to the south shore I don't know which way would be faster both ways you will have some good grade to climb 395 will be more gradual the through Sac. I live in Gardnerville which 395 run's right through ( Carson Valley) her is a pic of the valley were I live to plus a basic map of the lake.http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/2151lake_tahoe_map_large_.jpg

Looks like 395 to 50 would be best. I've done plenty of times just not towing. I was just through your way last weekend. I took the motorhome to my Inlaws in Sunvalley for a surprise birthday party. I can't believe what a roaring rapid the walker river was..and topaz has filled up nicely. I have a 32 foot force, I'll have to figure out how to set the motors as the elevation is extremely high. I have twin teague 800 blower motors and I hear they do not like elevation. I get in on the 1st and will be there till the 7th. Can't wait it will be nice to take the boat to a different setting for once! I'd like to run the boat with you guys so you can show me around possibly...I have no ideal as to where to go in the boat...restaurants, bars, beaches??? Thanks for the help. I'll shoot you my number.

Sound's good Deano, Just let me know when you get close you are welcome to hang with us anytime. My buddie live's in a small cabin right on the water next to Nevada beach, which is on of the better spots to see the fireworks for the fourth we will be on the water of course for the show. There are about a dozen bars/restaurants on the water. There really is not one hot spot like down in LHC but there is plenty to do. Nevada beach used to get really wild and they made it a dry beach (No Alcohal) for the fourth so we don't go there! sound's all good just let me know!

Unleached-we have run that poker run the last two years and had a blast. We have towed predator in on hwy. 50 with no problems what so ever (pace car of cource withpermits)Unfortunatly my son is getting married that weekend or i would be there.Tunnel Vision was the fastest last year because we lost a prop blade and had to idle back on one motor to change them out.We caught up with them at the second card stop and ran the others together. For tahoe we had to drop 7 jet sizes, raise the timing 2 degrees and go to 2 sizes lower props. It sure is pretty up there in the summer-have fun.

I should have figured you've already run it. I was there 3 years ago i believe Lick this or the old king of Havasu boat was there. Damn thats alot of tinkering but you have some big power. Goodluck with the wedding... I assume you dont have to pay for it lucky guy??? Thanks for the feedback!

Yes it is. You're close enough, you should make a trip there. I rented a house in the keys. I think they have a couple left and that is all but they have docks which is way cool.

Hey, this is great, we have some interest in our poker run!! Our boat stays in the Keys during the summer, always available to go out. We have had as many as 40+ boats and as few as 25. Love to have you guy make the trip.
If I can help anyone with info let me know. I jet down up to 6 jet sizes and prop down 2 to 4 sizes from my set up in Havasu. If you do that you will be fine.

To add to Garys comment, I've been here with my boat for 5 years now and never been hassled. If your boat is really loud, stay away from shore until you get to where you are going. Then come straight in. Don't sit at the dock and rev your engines while you load the boat. When entering Emerald Bay there is a speed limit on the entire bay. 15mph I believe. Whatever it is, its posted at the entrance. Don't exceed it!!! In 5 years of Poker Run I have been in not one ticket I know about. Ah, scratch that, there is one, I forgot about you Rick. ;)
Hope this helps

what are the sizes of the boats in the poker run? Big dogs only?

Tahoe Tunnel Vision
06-02-2005, 02:48 PM
It's certainly not "Big Dogs Only". Maybe a half dozen 100mph boats. Mostly everyone just has a lot of fun & runs whats comfortable. We even had a cruiser one year.

I don't think I'll be going with my current boat. If I had something a little bigger that wasn't open bow I might.
Be sure to take some nice warm duds, it's going to get nippy in the morning. :2purples:

I ran it in my Eliminator when I had it, but the water can get pretty rough out there. The year I ran, there was a guy with a Schiada river cruiser there. I would be too nervous to take my Ultra open bow on the course because it is across a lot of open water.
