Dude on PWC with 6 year old daughter in front of him. Ignores the buoys and blasts through the River Island No Wake Zone at about 35 MPH. I pull him over to give him a warning and maybe educate him a little. The first thing out of his mouth is....
"SHE WAS DRIVING!"
....as he's pointing to his little girl.

Well, lets see........
There was the guy who's girlfriend was video-taping us giving his other girlfriend FSTs on a dock. He kept yelling, "Get a shot of the dock...He can't make her do these on a floating dock!"
So she pans down with the camera and gets a good shot of the dock, the pilings, the concrete deck of the dock, back down to the pilings, the sidewalk it attaches to....... Get the picture?
She also gets really good video of her total screw up on the FSTs and also the guy physically interfering with the arrrest.
They both got a free ride to the Jail, and we got ourselves a video-tape. :D
Oh, yeah. It was the guys boat. He was as toasted as she was (.182% 3 hours after the stop). And he had her drive the boat.
And to add insult to injury. He bailed out and left her in the pokey all night.

Thanks Boatcop, those are some great stories. I love hearing them.
A couple other things, Saturday at Nacimiento, a boat drove straight into the rocks in the narrows, sending 4 people to the hospital. Alcohol may have been a factor....Ya think??? Also, the local paper had a clip with more info about the Hit N Run with the LA cop that ran over the PWC last weekend at Lake San Antonio. It seems the cop was busted while still in the boat near the marina. His passenger, or the passenger that was with him at the time of the collision, was also busted for DUI since he was pulling the truck and trailer down to the launch ramp to pull the boat out of the water. Heading straight to the launch ramp to leave doesnt leave a whole lotta doubt in the hit n run part..... :(
More stories, more stories......

Here's another.
300+ pounder on a PWC. She couldn't even close one buckle on the lifejacket, hauling ass north along the beach at River Lodge. (wrong way). Go to stop her, and she falls off as soon as she starts to slow.
Turns out she can't swim and the PFD is no help whatsoever. Luckily she was close to shore and the 9 year old on the back was able to drag her fat a$$ in before she drowned.
(Now the kicker)
I had to find someone to translate, since she didn't speak a word of English. (3 guesses on her native language)
Come to think of it, nearly all the people I stopped on PWCs for doing stupid and dangerous things spoke the same language.
(Including the moron in the first post)

Water was rough down in Parker yesterday and windy. I made a dam run at 6:30 and pulled boat out by 9:00 am. My poor little jet was getting hammered and even the larger yachts were getting lots of air time. Other than that it seemed like a mild holiday crowd. Did observe some people that don't drive boats so well though.

Are you talking about right at the mouth of the channel by Thompsons Bay? It looked like every boat cop was beached there working on that guy. The FD had to catch a ride from another boat to get across the channel quicker. I pulled up right as they were getting there, but didn't know what happened or heard anything else about it.

That was probably it then. I saw him right after they got him to shore. They had the ventilator bag out trying to breath for the guy. :( I wonder why it wasn't in the paper at all though? Maybe he made it.

2 more!
1st.
Guy gets stopped about 1:40 AM. Doesn't want to get an OUI, so in the middle of the FSTs, he bails over the side, swims to the California side and disappears into the night. We find out where he's camped. (La Paz Park) and we impound his boat, trailer and tow vehicle (Abandoned Property). :D
We ID'd him from a ticket he got a couple of weeks ago in Henderson at the Station Casino for urinating in public (drunk).
He shows up at 5:30 AM at the Fire Station to turn himself in.
What was going to be a misdmeanor OUI, now turns into 2 Felonies, and enough evidence from the FSTs to get the OUI anyway.
2nd.
Guy driving his boat through the Keys late at night towing about a dozen peoples on a big tubey thing. Not going fast, just idling. Driver was (reasonably) sober. Technically the same as "skiing after sunset", but we give him a walk since the intent of that law is so the skier isn't dropped in the middle of the lake to get run over by other boats.
One obnoxious drunk (says he is a former cop) was giving my Officer a hard time, ragging on him real bad, until the driver finally yells at him to shut up, before he (the driver) gets about a dozen citations.
No cites given. The name are with held to protect the guilty. (They can tell you the story themselves. :hammerhea

I sat on my patio at Windmill Sat. and Sun. night killing my cooler with my boat sitting next to me on the trailer watching two S.O./P.D. boats pulling pretty much everyone over who was going up or down river. This was from about 11:30 to 1:30 both nights. Thats because pretty much everyone NEEDED to be pulled over. No lights, using spotlights, yelling (I know isnt illegal, but don't yell "I'm ripped" to a cop as you drive buy). Pretty funny. And there was a bazillion lake lice out there with no idea what they were doing. Looked like PD had there hands full.

I was cruising Sunday at no-wake speed in a cove clearly marked as no-wake. Two guys on lice come screaming past the buoys. One notices all the boats at no-wake and yells at his buddy. The guy keeps going flat out doing whorls. Finally, they talk and the first guy runs over to my boat and asks if they were in a no-wake zone. When we told them yes (what was your first clue?), they both floored it and left the area. And they wonder why I favor licensing of PWCs?
