I am booking my summer up and want to spend a few nights in Laughlin. I really only have two criteria. Which hotel is the best for kids and has secure boat parking?
What else should I consider? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Not really a great one as it is Laughlin but to your requirements I would say Harrah's if price isn't an issue. Harrah's will cost a little more but the casino is nice for adults and it has it's own beach and stuff like that. As far as parking there is not secure parking at any of the hotels. But right across the street from Harrah's is a secured lot but you have to pay.

I like to stay at the Ramada Express, they have very nice guarded boat parking, easy in and out and away from the crowds.Reasonable rates and clean rooms too. Plus the train is super for the kids !

We've been staying at the Colorado Belle for our trips over the last 15+ years.
They do not have "secure" parking but do have security on bikes all night. Have never had a thing stolen from my boat/truck.
Our kids have a great time. They can walk down to the Riverside and go to the movies. I think there is also a bowling alley there. Sometimes they hang out in the Belle's arcade, get ice cream and stuff.
We're usually out at the lake until dark so by the time we get back to the hotel, they only last a couple of hours and crash.
We just booked out room for July and I think it was $39 night.

If you don't have to stay "in Laughlin" I would stay at AVI. Its about 15 minutes from Laughlin right on the river. Great beach, launch ramp, kids areas, movie theater. Fun place.

The best hotel for kids is the Avi...no question about it.
But if you want to be North more...then really the nicest is Harrahs & Golden Nugget. ( Not very kids friendly) but they are nice & guarded. :rollside:
Riverside & Avi are the only hotels with kid care. Riverside's isnt as nice as the Avi's...but they do have a bowling alley. Avi has a great movie theatre. :rollside:
Hope this helps.

Riverside's isnt as nice as the Avi's...but they do have a bowling alley.
They even have their own beer...and there is always the Thursday night wet t-shirt contest at Loser's Lounge (I've got a story about that sometime).

Not to completely high-jack this thread but...just a warning...this isn't for the easy stomached person so BE WARNED!
Let's just say that it was a pretty normal wet t-shirt contest until...a woman that was approx 40-50lbs overweight starts struttin' her stuff and showing her bigg-ol-flabby-knockers! For her grand finale she started "milking" herself (seriously started squirting her mother's milk on stage)!!! That's not even the "bad of it"...There were two guys in the front row paying her to squirt milk in their mouths and all over their faces:yuk: :yuk: :yuk:
One of the nastiest things I have ever witnessed...No, make that THE NASTIEST THING I HAVE EVER WITNESSED!!!!!!!!! You can imagine how my wife felt I'm sure.

You could always stay down at Katherines, that way you get a boat slip, if you plan on visiting Lake Mohave with all the gang bangers and people walking around the launch ramp in their socks.......;)

The Riveside Hotel is our favorite. Not the classiest place but definately the most fun for adults and kids. They are the only hotel that has a multiplex theatre where kids can go for hours and give the adults a break. Or the bowling alley where they can go cosmic bowling in the night. A Decent arcade. Good docks where you can tie up the boat and even leave them overnight floating down river The losers lounge is the best bar there, dancing, msuic, tits etc. Another great dance place on the second floor. Gambling is about the same everywhere. A launch ramp on the property makes things easy.
Like I said, it's not the fanciest but it is the most fun and i can leave my kids for hours, while the wife and I play. The Buffet SUCKS! but the gourmet room is some of the best dining on the river.

Avi's great. Our 5 year old loves it and the beach is great too. Check out Kids quest at Avi. If you are heading up to Mohave it adds some trailer time. Boat parking seems secure as well. Heard some bad news about Harrahs although i have left my 21' jet there for 3 nights and no problem.
IS the new pool at AVI finished? anyone?

I've had nothing but bad experiences at Avi... most recently they tried to double my room rate upon checking out (I had a printout from reserving online and they still fought it) The parking sucks, you need a 4x4 for the launch ramp, and the people are bitchy...
The worst part is if you want to go play at the "strip" you're screwed... $40 cab ride or DUI
But for every bad story I'm sure there's a positive one...

I say Harrah's hands down. Nice beach, best resturaunts, and showgirls!!! Couple those three with Bud Light and Gambling, and I dont see how you could go wrong. They also have a big arcade for the kids.

I have always spent my time at Havasu or the occasional Mohave trip. How is the water depth on the river for outdrives at Avi? Also how is the current for smaller kids say 3 & 4 years? It looks like the room rates are awesome.

Riverside gets my vote. Between the Cosmic Bowling, the arcade and the movie theatres, River Walk, it's a blast for the whole family. It may not be the nicest casino in town, but for the whole Family it works out well for us.

I take my family exclusively to the Ramada Express. It is as family friendly as you can get in Laughlin and I feel very safe parking my Boat out back in their oversized lot plus it is easy to get in and out of there with that back dirt road and did I mention that there is an In n out burger next door?! Can't go wrong I tell ya!

We've been staying at the Colorado Belle for our trips over the last 15+ years.
They do not have "secure" parking but do have security on bikes all night.
We've also been going to the Belle since 1989 (17 years now) and for the last 8 or so have been parking in their FREE secure lot. It's up the hill behind the outlet mall. And unlike Harrahs, it's free of charge if you're registered at the Belle or Edgewater. You can't beat it. If you're going straight out of the Edgewater's main entrance/exit, keep going up the hill about a 1/4 mile. It's the driveway just past the drive-thru ATM, just past the driveway to the mall, and just before the driveway to the little medical clinic. Stop at the booth and get a piece of paper to put on your dash and your good to go. A FREE 24 hr. shuttle runs a loop about every 7 minutes between one stop at the Belle, one at the Edgewater, and several stops in the FREE secured parking lot (which is jointly used by their employees, tour busses, and boaters.) They even have the security guys cruising though in the little white pickups and mountain bikes all day (and night) long. Never had a problem. One time in the middle of the night around 2 a.m. I got a call from security saying a buzzing noise was coming from my boat. I took the FREE shuttle up and found that the bilge blower (or pump) was on. Must have hit it when covering the boat.
With the exception of Harrahs, the Belle is centrally located. Ramada's train--just across the street. In-N-Out--just across the street. Outlet mall & theaters--just across the street. Riverside for bowling, movies, or Loser's Lounge--just a little walk down the riverwalk.
Did I mention the easy access to the rooms? Probably one of the easiest hotels to get to your rooms without having to trample thru the casino. Pull up in the bus loading zone to load up (or drop off) your crew. Just inside the door is the elevator shaft and up to your floor you go.
We're kinda like Partycattin in that we come off the water at dark (8 or 8:30 in the middle of summer) and get back to the hotel around 9. After dropping everyone off at the loading zone I head up to the FREE security lot. Bring the FREE shuttle back down, grab the kids and head to the pool. It's now 9:30 or so, so we get to play in the pool until security kicks us out at 10. Head up to the room, grab a sandwich, kids crash out, watch a little SportsCenter and Letterman and then do it all over again the next day. After about 9 or 10 days of this I have to head home and back to work.
Sorry for the long post but we've really enjoyed our times staying at the Belle. We've tried a few others--Flamingo (rooms and bed's way too small), Harrahs (more expensive and you have to pay to park your boat in a secure lot :yuk: ), Riverside (seems dirtier, smokier, and parking the boat in the South 40 doesn't appeal to me), Ramada (wasn't boating on that trip but may be o.k.)
We'll no longer be staying their since the house is done just up off McCormick but I'm sure going to miss staying at the Belle. I'll miss the pool, people watching, checking out the other boats, seeing people from the boards, etc.
