Anybody use a quad to move your boat around? I'm looking for something to move my boat to the side of the house. It's a tight fit and on grass. Will a quad handle this?

or you can put a hitch on the front of you rig.

i've been looking in to that. i'll have to get a custom reciever. I was thinking that a quad might be even more manuverable. A front hitch is still an option.

I have pulled mine 4 miles to the river. Don't bother me. Its a suzuki king quad. I can get it up to around 40 mph. This pic is CharityCase lauching Mr T's boat at CFW.

How beefy would the quad have to be to move a 22' Eliminnator? i was looking at a Honda Fourtrax or something like that.

Golf cart. My neighbor launches his at the river with it. He even stole my boat one day teaching me a lesson. Swiped my boat with is golf cart.

I would look into some of the bigger Polaris quads. They have come a long way in the last few years.
Contact CharityCase on the boards. He sells bikes. Could throw out a Hot Boat member discount.

Polaris makes a Sportsman 800 EFI. They are awesome. The run $8599. We are down to one. They sell quick. It is the biggest cc out there right now.

I use my 19 hp Craftsman mower to move my boat around in the yard :D , but wouldn't try launching with it. There's not enough weight to it, I have to make a run at the small hill in the yard to keep things moving forward :jawdrop: .

Ditto with a 15 hp Honda.
It works fine. I wouldn't try launching with it, either.

I don't think the powered wheel deal is going to work out on grass to well. Even a small incline can get that program going south in a hurry..
I can vouch the Rhino works pretty well. :) I have some pics of it around here somewhere.

The 3 wheeled AC unit will push 10,000lbs up a grade (on dirt or grass according to the web-site), and it has brakes. As far as the grass goes, lay down some plywood if need be. $1,000.00 is much less then a Rhino or a quad. Now if you are buying the Rhino or quad to play with and also move the boat, well then.............that is another story.

Post it up, thats gotta be a cool pic. You should get a rhino painted up to match bubbles. Now that would be tight.

When are you cheap asses going to put a decent sound system on that thing? You know... a tower with some speakers... a few 15" subs... several thousand watts... maybe a half dozen of those swing down LCD panels.

Just don't get pissed when the paint job gets F'ed up because we happened to tip it over or hit some major bushes. :p

I used to used my little Kawaski 220 Bayou to push my 22' DCB around (same hull as yours). I used to leave the front wheel on the trailer and not put all the tongue weight on the quad. It did it, it wasn't as pretty as a Honda 4trax or Polaris would be.

Used to move mine around with 13 horse craftsman (around 1700lbs deal)...backyard drive was about as steep as many launches, but if you popped the clutch too fast it would pull a scary wheelie. Wet tires might make it tough too.

You guys have some bitchin ideas to move boats around. I need something small yet powerfull. The Rhino is too big. I'm curious about the riding mower idea. I'll have to find one......

Just remember to go slow if you use a quad, not a lot of braking power or mass in case you F%^& UP!!!
