Anybody ever go to Lake Perris? How are the crowds there? Any strict speed laws?

Stay away from Perris. 35mph in one direction only. No beer allowed and you WILL get ticketed with OT's. If you go in the water chances are good will get raging cyphillis (spelling?) or something. Elsinore is no jewel, but 100 times better, and even a high speed zone. My .02. 1QJ

If you are coming from HB, Elsinore is really not that far out of the way. Only about 20 min south from the 91. Worth it, IMHO.

Kona, I go to Perris all the time during the week, and I have NEVER gotten pulled over by the cops. I go out to the dam to do my speed runs, am running a 454 BBC with OTT Bassett headers with baffles, and have even passed the police boat a couple weeks ago doing 75+. Usually the traffic is light during the week, and the water calm. A word of warning though: I got a hell of an ear infection last year from the water there, and ended up going to the doctor to get it taken care of. I will be there tomorrow as well. Hope this helps. I cant even make it past the 5 mph zone with out being stared down from the patrol boat in the winter time.let alone go by at full speed. find it hard to believe 75 by him!!!

Well, I had my foot in the throttle, and I have spoken with the patrol guys quite a few times anyways. They all know my boat, and I am ASSUMING that since they do, and know that I dont do stupid $hit out on the water, they have NEVER hassled me. -DD out
Miss HB, I could have had a smart ass comment for you, but I wont go there!!!!! Hahahaha....

Just went and reread what I wrote, maybe I shouldnt use the word "blow" and "park rangers" in the same sentence. I get away with alot when it comes to the law but NOT by doing that....LOL

I haven't been to Perris in 10 years, but it sucked turd back then, and probably still does. They let way too many craft out there on the weekends to be considered anywhere near safe. What a screwed up mess. If that was what boating was everywhere you went, I wouldn't bother boating anymore. As DD says, I'm sure weekdays are different as far as crowds and cops.

Okay Miss HB, but you asked for it!!!!
I was gonna say that since Perris blows, why not have someone out there such as yourself to do some blowing right along with it???? Hahahahaha......you know I am just teasing ya http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif~ Peace out.....-Dick "digging himself a deep hole" Danger

Yeah, the water is pretty foul, but it isnt green like Elsinore, although someone said that Elsinore is STILL cleaner than Perris. I have never been out to Perris during a weekend, always the weekday, and since it is only like 20 minutes down the road from the house, and $3 to get into, why shouldnt I head out there, kicking it on the beach with my headphones listening to Leykis, and catching a few rays? Although it is a bacteria infested lake, Ill still take it over having no lake at all. If anyone is up for meeting there anytime during the week, even if ya dont have a boat, let me know. Perris has nice beaches on the island and shore with picnic tables and covered concrete patios.
It's a nice place really. So it's one way around the island, who really cares? I'm not big on rules, but what ever.
I've run past the ranger station building at better than 50 with the roost up last June (or the June before I don't remember). I didn't know where the ranger station was until I looked over and saw it!
I think Perris makes a nice family trip and beach day. Far better than Elsinore. This is the first time in over 10 years I've been boating in So Cal that I've heard people say that Elsinore water is cleaner than Perris.
BTW: Sorry DD, but 75? What do you think your top speed is? You better not buy a GPS, it could cause you serious depression. Just ask 77Charger! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif

According to the GPS that my buddies brother in law has, last summer, on a fairly calm Perris, only me in the boat, the tanks a 1/4 full, it ran 76. Whether those are the right numbers or not, on a 550 hp BBC 454, and the boat is 2700 lbs, turning 5100 rpm, that is what he came up with. -DD Out
Also, Elsinore Cop was the one that said that , although Perris' water LOOKS cleaner than Elsinore, it actually is the other way around.

I wasn't doubting the water thing, just never heard it that way before.
As for your speed, I'm not an expert but I don't think any jet boat will hit 76 at 5100 RPM. I could be, and probably am, wrong but something doesn't seem right. I'd like to hear what 77Charger thinks! HEAR THAT ROBERT, 5100RPM and 76mph - WHAT DO YA THINK OF THAT?
That is w/ baffles also?
If so, you'll probably pick up as much as 200 RPM w/o the baffles. Probably be doing close to 100 then! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif j/k

The Polio pond has cleaner water than lake Smellsomore. Smell has less rules, Polio has better water, facilities, etc. Depends on what you want to do. I live 15 min away from Polio but would rather drive 2 hrs to the river. But I digress..

Well 5100 an 76 imo dont match up.(unless the pump is very tight and an a impeller)but then you need more than alot of hp.Hell i seem to beat alot of claimed 75mph boats.from what i have learned it takes alot of hp to push past 70.and no hydraulic cammed motor will make more than 500 hp with a single 4150 series carb.Mine makes around 450 with a healthy cam and compression to boot(11-1) and need 100 nos to break 70.
jason your claimed 68 at 5500 you need to have your pump checked out for some serious slippage!!!.
when i get my pump back i will get even more speed so i know or have an idea what it will do.btw i might be ordering them forged pistons for my other bbf429 (200 cheater solonoids are next as is a solid cam)and the speeds i told you i did were wrong goota keep people guessing.let me see when you went with me i was pulling 4850 on motor well add 700rpm x ?= speed

If my numbers are off then, I sure would like to find someone that has a radar gun, or GPS that I can use and do a little comparison. I am not one of those guys that likes to say "My boat goes this fast" if it really doesnt. Anyhow, if anyone has something that I could use, and would be willing to meet up one day this summer, I would be all for doing a run. L8...-DD Out
