I have a new 27 datona.(open bow mid cabin). I came with the 1500.00 pos the the factory installed. Sony head unit and 4 61/2 kickers. Sounds like sh*t.
I dont want to butcher the boat.I have a friend that has the hook up on kicker, alpin and pioner. Here is what he is recomending. New hi end alpin head unit, 2 12" kicker crv12 in custom box (Not ported) that fits in one of the ice cooler holes in the mid cabin, driven by a kicker mono kx1200.1. Replacing the 61/2 with kicker rs65.2 or ks 6.2 or enlarging the holes and going with 6x9. Also adding to 61/2 or 6x9 to the open bow. The front and rear speeks to be run by a kicker kx350.4 4 channel and the 2 61/2 in the mid cab just run of the head unit. Is this ok. I only want to do this once. I hear lots of peeps putting lots of bucks in there boat and still not happy. Don't want to be one of them.
My freind knows what he is doing in a cars and trucks, but i don't think so on boats. Any advice or recomendations would be great!!! Thanks

Sounds like you are on the right track, but I would definitely upgrade all the speakers to 6x9's. Im not a big fan of Kicker speakers but if those are your only 3 choices the kickers are prbably your best bet. If you have access to soemthing else I would definitely look into the Eclipse or Infinity stuff. They seem to work the best in boats.

What the best. Sealed or ported subs? What about the kicker l5 and l7 square 12's verses the vr12 round?

Replace the 2 pairs of 6.5's with 2 pairs of Focal 6.5" speakers and it will rock. I just put 4 pairs in my boat and it sounds way better than the 6 pairs of MBQuarts I had in my last boat.

Polyglass or K2?
I think they are the polyglass... I'll have to go look at the box.
