I'm ending here, as this photo is very important to me.
That's my Dad & brother shown.
Needles 2001
Last boating trip with my bro before he passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack.
If anyone gets a chance to see my new superstock, Billy B came up with a great tribute idea for my brother.

Mike,
Thanks a ton for sharing your pics. I have saved them all to my HD. What kind of boat is that? looks "old school" like I like them.
That pantera is bad ass.

Mike, great pics, all...I've always loved that shot of the flat @ Needles. That boat just sits "right" and maybe because it looks alot like my Howard. :D

SSMike,
Just returned from SoCal; great pic's!
#1: Georgeous classic truck. If that is a steel body, then it is just that much more beautiful.
#2: The early seventies De Tomaso has always been a favorite of mine. Nice tiny bumbers. (Are those euro bumpers, Mike? )
#3: Tell me about the motor in the v-drive. I'm very curious.
Thanks,
LO

Don:
Thanks for the compliments. The boat is a 69 RaysonCraft "LP" that my father purchased brand new. My brother and I learned to waterski behind it when we were around 6 years old.
It has the somewhat rare Monkeypod wood deck. Jim Miller of Miller Boats fame did a paint & deck restoration for us a couple years ago. Due to a few water damage spots, we inlaid another type of wood in order to keep the monkeypod.
I hope to have it ready for family use sometime after CFW.
It is priceless to me for many reasons.

Bob, hows it going? Are you hitting CFW? We should have the new boat there....Just look for the sun glinting off the metal flake. I hope to see you there.
BTW, we're doing a "de-tune" of the Rayson to restore her to family duty....

Yes, the truck is steel bodied. It doesn't get driven much these days.
The Pantera is a 72 and sports a windsor-based (bored & stroked) 427 that makes about 550 hp. A close family friend is in the process of painting it a ridiculously bright yellow (surprise).

The Rayson's BBF is a .030 over 429 built by Jim Grubbs of JGM motorsports in Valencia, CA. It sports Blue thunder aluminum heads and an underdriven 8-71.
We dyno'ed it about 4 years ago and it made around 750 hp on pump gas.

This summer, the Rayson motor is being replaced with a "stocker" type 460 that I bought off Hot Hallet here on the boards.
We are bringing back the thru-transon exhaust and the back to back seating in an effort to make it family-friendly again.
You see, my son Jack is finally old enough (17 months) to take his first V-drive ride.
The boss said "no way" to the blown motor/zoomies combo.
I need some ideas re: what type of vehicle to put the blown motor in......
Anyone?

Too bad it is a Ford, or I would suggest my Hondo.

Find a 66 or 67 fairlane gta for the big motor and run cragar S/S wheels. Even the 68 and 69 fairlanes look good and priced reasonable.

Mike, Doin' ok. Prob. not going to make CFW as I going to try to get to Chowchilla for the races. Tell me more about the "de-tuned" engine for the Rayson...any plans for a stroker? :D
