my thought are rex marine is a far better place. eddie is closer by about 30 min to me. but after my expernce today i will comute to rex.
reason nicer store . (1) alot more on display. (2) a real parts counter (3) have parts in stock (4) sales staff is profesional looking (5) counter guys know what they are talking about. (6) more then 1 counter guy= shorter wait less fustration (7) willing to price match not that i know eddie wont just never gave them the chance.(8) the customer in front of me apoligizing he upsset someone for questioning some thing. I feel on the spot is best place to ask questions not at home installing parts.(9) used or blem part offered at huge discounts.never bought one but doesnt hurt to offer. (10) rex is on this site giving advise and helping out. (11) THE FREE SODA WHILE SHOPPING
NOW I HAVE GONE TO REX 3 TIMES THIS MONTH. NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE. REX HAD 1 PART I NEEDED AND THAT IS WHY I MADE THE TRIP. FIRST TRIP. WAS GOING TO GO TO EDDIE ON THE WAY HOME TO BUY THE REST OF MY PARTS.BUT THE GUYS AT THE COUNTER WERE VERY THOURGH AND FOUND OUT I NEEDED MORE PARTS AND THE REASON HOLDING ME BACK FROM BUYING THERE WAS A COUPLE OF DOLLARS IN PRICE. THEY PRICE MATCHED IT. TURNED AN 80 DOLLAR TICKET TO 540 DOLLARS, BY SAVING ME LESS THEN 10 DOLLARS.
REX I WILL BE AT YOUR COUNTER TOMORROW TO BUY AN OIL PAN AND PICK UP TUBE. WILL BE SPENDING ANOTHER 364 DOLLARS OR SO.
WOULD LIKE TO TALK WITH YOU.
REX THE ONLY THING I RECOMMEND IS A CATALOG, SO I CAN LOOK BEFORE I ARRIVE.
EDDIE I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN WHAT I SAW TODAY. AND YOU MAY GET ANOTHER SHOT. BUT REX WILL HAVE TO BE OUT OF STOCK ON SOMETHING.
I WENT TO YOUR SHOP TO BUY 3 ITEM TODAY LEFT BUYING ONE. NO INVENTORY. MAKE YOU SALE FLOOR CATCH PEOPLE EYES AND DISTRACT THEM THEY MAY NOT NOTICE THERES ONLY ONE COUNTER GUY
THIS POST IS FOR MATTER OF OPINION ONLY NOT TO BASH ANY ONE SHOP!
AS I HOPE THAT THERE IS ALWAYS MORE THEN 1 LOCAL CHOICE
THANKS MIKE

Thanks for the kudus Meanium. The counter thing is tough for us and many times we have just one guy there too particularly around lunch time (shortage of guys) but always try to get people in / out as fast as possible. There are times we get overloaded and it doesn't happen and I know some guys end up waiting longer than they'd (I'd) like. Thanks for your biz it is appreciated and glad we got you taken care of quickly.

I really appreciated the recommendations Rex made when I was rigging my boat. He helped me take it to a higher level by suggesting components that would work properly together and also I was made aware of some options I would not have known about on my own.
The thing that I appreciated most about Rex was that they had no problem checking out details. No fuss was made when I asked if a certain wheel mounted trim switch would fit on a certain steering wheel. It took the guess work completely out of the component selection process.
Kudos to you and your shop, Mike.
I like the online manual. It's fairly complete. A catalog would be great but I find the online manual to be a pretty good resource.
My softball team likes Rex Marine also. Of course, none of them are into boating or care anything about boat parts. :D

Rex service is hands down the better of the two. I see not much has changed with ol' EM. Much better peeps at Rex and who cares if its $10 more on a $540 order? I would pay $10 bucks for good service and cool people to help me out.

today was my 1st day in eddies. glad rexs people were there to take my money. at eddies i would have had to shoot a flare gun in the shop to get attention. operator paged them 3 or 4 times. teach the operator how to take my money. she is a female proably already a skilled hand. just need to teacher her sales of boat parts. she could have done as good as the guy who didnt know how to match woodruff keys. eddies nice outside sucks inside

Don't get me started. A few years ago I had a flame war with Eddie on this site after his crew treated me like dirt when I walked in one day. I'm glad to hear it wasn't just me. Seems that is the way he runs his show.

eddie didnt treat me bad. please dont mistake that. that is not what i am saying. agian im not here to bash anyone just giving suggestions. so that if he hears about it, he would consider ways to correct the problem. the guy apoligizing wasnt me it was the man in front of me. i wouldnt appoligize as a customer if i had a question. to get my answers at the parts counter is better then having to return. i dont know what the whole problem was cuase i wasnt there. but if i was a dumb ass and didnt know better, the counter man would have sent me of with the wrong woodruff keys. or let me say this if i would have sent my wife there she would have got the wrong woodruff keys, not knowing any better. and that would have pissed me off. as i had an example of the right part there. and would have set me back a day, and wasted an hour in driving at least, everyone knows the commute up the 15 on a friday is horrible. there was one man that was kind enough to tell me that they did not stock that size. to bad he didnt work the counter

Mike Rocks, plain and simple. As such, he is getting a lions share of my hardware business even though as an OEM I can very easily go straight to the source and cut out the distributor. He and his staff are extremely knowledgable and courteous and have really done an awesome job helping us spec out the Revolution.
Of course it is easy to sell me. You tell me what the very best is and I get it. What is nice is being able to take Mike's word on it and know his answer has little to do with profit margins or immediate stock numbers.
Thanks again Mike for everything. You are making this possible for me.

Eddie Marine kinda screw'd me too. I ordered 3 parts from them and that is when the run around began. 2 personal visits,2 phone call's and 3 emails to them and to this day I have yet to get any kind of response! That is just as well because I have since bought the parts at REX. Cost a couple extra bucks, but at least he had them.I made up for the price difference by drinking all his free soda! :D
I'd say somthing like EDDIE MARINE KISS MY ASS !
except i'm pretty sure nobody over there is listening anyway!
