I've been looking for a Spectra project (always keeping my eyes open). I think they are great family cruiser/ski boats. Unfortunately, I just bought a Gullwing project (will pick it up next week). If the Spectra doesn't sell quickly (which I'll bet that it will), I'd be strongly interested in making it my own.
I'll keep in touch.
Steve.

Riverbound, where are you? This boat matches your 18 and would be the perfect spot to start that 20 project you were talking about.
Eric,
Spend the weekend color sanding and buffing that thing, and I think it'd be a lot easier to get your 4k out of it. If I were in the market, one of the things I would be worried about is whether or not I'm going to have to drop $$$$ to have it re-gelled. If you color sand it and buff it out, you remove one more large chunk of change from someones rebuild budget and make the whole project a lot more cost feasible.

correct!!! but not unless someone wants to regel the boat. than the color sanding goes to waiste and my price does not become flexible with all the non neccessary labor that went into the boat. :D

I think you missed my point. From the pictures, it looks like the gel is faded. If I were looking at a boat like that, I would think.... 4k for the hull then another 6-8k to have a GOOD gel job done. Now I'm at 10-12k before I put any other money into it.
If you color sand it and the gel shines up good I don't even worry about the regel. I understand you want to unload it, and you spent more to thave the stringers and intake done that what you're asking for it. The point is, with shiny gel, it will sell quicker.

like i said, project!!! and i'm not asking more than i have in the stringers and intake, you want to see paperwork just ask for dont make asumptions. the legand pump with the diverter costes more than 3k just the way it sits, let me see $1996.00 for stringer work, and $1500.00 for intake/shoe/loader/rideplate. do you need a calculater?

I need a calculator a lot less than you need a computer with spell check, a dictionary, the ability to comprehend what you read, and some freaking manners. I wasn't doggin on your boat. I said in my post that you have more in just the stringers and intake work than what you're asking, so I gave you credit where credit is due. You're the one who construed it as meaning something other than a compliment. I was merely pointing out how most folks that are looking at these boats understand what a "project" is, and have a budget If they can take the money for gel coat out of the budget, the "project" becomes cheaper and more sensible to buy. It was some advice aimed at helping you sell your boat, nothing more, nothing less.
You want to get all butt hurt and start taking an tone of superiority with me, knock yourself out, I'm not the one that's trying to catch up with Mouzer in terms of selling boats. Good luck with the sale, but lose the attitude.

Hey blown spectra,
Just curious, what it the white residue from around the stringers and how far does the new glass extend out onto the hull from the stringer replacement?
Looks like a good deal to me. If I could sell my boat quickly, I'd be all over that.

the white spots are from water, when i washed the boat after the stringer work, i forgot to dry it down. the sun dryed the water down.(it comes off). the stringers go from transom to front bulkhead. the outer stringers are i believe 15' from ransom forward. Sal did all the work at orange county. i still have to take back after the scag gets put in the boat, so he can finish the job by putting the floor in.

Ok, so I didnt explain my question well. :hammer2: I was wondering how far the fiberglass that wraps the new stringers extends transversly on the hull past where the stinger meets the hull. In other words doe the galss go 6" or 8" out to bond the new stringer to the old hull?
Also, are those fiberglass tanks?
Thanks,
Kent

ahhh, i got it, sorry for the missunderstanding. the fiberglass is 8" from where the new wood meets the old floor. the main stringers have the real heavy dutty stuff that Sal recommended cuz of the kind of power we were planning. the outer stringers have the mat that they usually use cuz they dont take so much stress so they went 6 inchs on the outside, and 8" on the inside stringers. the transom and the floor where the engine sit's, is gelcoated black. (flocoat to be on the money) and yes the tanks are fiberglass, i would highly recommend you change them, i have a guy that can make them for you, you would have to talk to him for priceing, ( he's pretty resonable) any other info and if you want to see the boat, let me know. 818-482-6216 thanks
