I Bought A V Drive Last Year And I Love It! It Needs A Paint Job, But Runs Great. I Wish That It Had Reverse. I Dont Know If It Is Possible. I Am New To V Drives (shocker, Huh). But Is There Any Way Of Putting Reverse On It And Making It So I Dont Have To Turn The Motor Off To Put It Into Gear?

Is it a flatbottom or a cruiser?

My flatbottom has a velvet-drive (forward, neutral, reverse).

Do Either One Of Those Go Into Gear Without Turning Off The Motor? About How Much $$ And How Easy To Install?

I've got a 3 foot paddle. Works pretty good. Hasn't failed me yet :) :)

I just got a Daytona V drive and it has a 460 ford motor w/C6 auto trans.
It has reverse but theres no steering in reverse.
Starting out in 2nd and shifting to 3rd seems pretty cool for a boat.
Once I get a 1000+hp motor in here I can see where the shift from 2 to 3 could be quite a rush.

I have a 17' Barron Sprint with a Turbo 400 trans, it works great, easy to shift, you don't have to turn the engine off, makes docking a breeze. Use
1st gear in the harbor, go slow and doesn't load up the engine, pull out in second and shift high. You can buy or have a stock trans rebuilt to marine specs by A-1 Racing Transmissions in Canoga Park, Ca 818-884-6222. Also Art Carr Transmissions. Get a manual valve body, reverse shift pattern, no torque converter you use a marine coupler that is +3/8" for your motor plate and get long dowl pins for the bell housing, also the short tail shaft is helpful to get it to fit into a flattie. I like the Winters shifter too. You also need an oil coller that can be bought from Rex Marine, run the engine water through it. You will spend about $1,500-2,000 if you do the work yourself, but you will love the results.
I have run this combination in many boats over the years. When in reverse all inboards go on kind of a 45 degree angle toward the right rear, but you learn how to deal with that.
Good Luck,

they both work well, the glide is great for slooow zones.. im sure either way its about the same money. The glides main advantage is a low gear when needed. Short shift her and hold on... use a TCI sprint car coupler its lighter then the marine version.... Jegs has them in stock...
