Broken crank. balancer is tight but wobbles all around., looks like the crank broke right behind the balancer, I,m assuming the timing gear is holding it in still, but its gone.stuck my little magnet on the jessel ledge and pulled out a little piece of a spring. also ran it thru bilge area and lots of metal shavings, so will pull it out and see how much damage. anyone have a big CI N/A motor for sale??? i may just throw one in to stay on water while we look this one over.

We stayed at bridge bay last time. I think it was 103/night. Pretty reasonable. I know there have to be campgrounds near by, just not sure where. You can also rent a houseboat. I know some of the guys have their own up there as well. I really hope you guys make it. I know we'll have at least 1 lil one w/ us if not both, so bring the kids...

Bridge Bay Resort has some decent rooms. The rooms with a kitchenette are like $139, the "kitchen suite" is $189, and the bad-daddy suite is like $239/nt. We got the kitchen suite on the last run and it was killer. 2 separate & large bdrms, full kitchen, courtyard-like private patio with BBQ & picnic table, and dual entries (1 for each bdrm). The standard rooms facing the water on the first floor looked great as well....each had a patio area and a BBQ and were like $109 or something like that. Had we known that my folks were gonna back out at the last minute, we'd have taken one of those and saved a few bills.
I'm workin on this Shasta run to be a hall-pass to go have some fun with a few of my buddies. Can't necessarily keep up with the pack when the litt'lins are on board...especially if the wind kicks up some chop.

its dean i got a 540 short block and 632 short block (they are bill michell motors the same co.as world products ) for sale brand new and a 540 complete 640 hp dynoed same motor alvin has call me 916-485-5072x139 was the blower belt too tight that will break the crank instantly

Hey !! Keith I won't be at Shasta the fourth something just came up !!!! Looks like i'm going to LOTO !!!!! YEE !!! HAW !!!!!!!!!!!! only 2200 mile drive no big deal right !!!!!! It will be Aug 26-28. So now have to work the next two months getting this thing just right.Will be at Shasta July 9-10 and work on props, need to set up a .80 mile run and see what I need for 150 mph !!!! hehehe !!!! Guess I will have to represent us all there !!!! hehehe !!!!!
Will be back on Sept 1 so will still be able to make the Cat Attack II.
Have some sponser $$ which made the dissision to go easy. Will have to take it easy at the Portland Poker Run as I neeed to save my motor for LOTO. Anybody make the trip out there before any info would help !!!

Everytime this group posts a get-together I get so fired up....but I gotta miss this one. :hammerhea I was just reminded about the trip that we already paid for months ago for a group trip to Lake Hogan with my wife's sis & husband, bro, etc, etc. Totally forgot about it.....bummer.

Thanks everone I will do my best to send those east coast boys a packkin !! hehehe !!!! Getting lots of advise from those that have been there. Race Crafters ( Rod) will be there to help if needed also , so all I have to do is get dialed in .Talked to Bronson Hill today they will have some props ready for me to test by next Fri.Will be at Shasta a lot the next few weeks practicing the one mile run from a stop to get the prop right .There are no practice runs there but I here I can make as many runs as time will allow at $ 25.00 per run.I here the water gets better latter in the day so will have to just wait and see. got my vpc16 fuel today so can test at Shasta at 20+ lbs for a few runs.
R52 be carefull at the Bridge to Bridge that turn at the bridge really bothered me as going up river it is a left hand turn and if you prop gets on the surface it can spin you out real easy .I have learned with my surface drive that left had turns can be trouble if the water is not right.

I can tell you from experince that thing runs like a raped ape. Bravel tested, I have bravely put my life in Hulshots hands on a number of occasions and have a great time. Has it been fully tested, yes but I will let Hulshot tell you about all of that because I was not going for that ride!

If all goes well at shasta this next weekend I may post a pic of the GPS !!!!! 25 lbs boost and a 29 prop !!!! Yee Hawwwww !!!!!!!!!! should be a rush !!!!!! So far at 10 lbs boost I only got 138.3 in a mile run at Emigrant Lake and the air was at 81 so really bad like runnung at 4000 ft elevation. Should do a lot better at Shasta ,better air and more boost. Last year a Datona won my class at 120 mph but dont know why sounds a little slow may have been the water. It was a boat with a 1471 motor built in Havasu by Gary Kincaid I heard. Waiting today for UPS to show up with some more props to run.

I have'nt gotten my ride totally fixed yet. Runs perfect but the headers are
reverting droplets of water that are killing my o2 sensor's.
I am now trying to make extensions inside the collectors to move the water further down the pipe. It came with 18" ext. but I couldnt make them fit. So now its cut and weld. :devil:
If they would have built the headers exactly to specs it would have been running by now..
Cant wait for Shasta= If I make the Bridge to Bridge then I will be all dialed for the lake..

Went to Shasta this week end and tested props but still no real results I had boost issues instead seems its always something. Only got to 13 lbs with my pully change so could only go 131 mph in .80 mile. using two gps to check speed and distance. This 980 Blower makes boost different than what I used before so will order some new pullys monday and try again .If I can't get to over 140 mph in .80 mile there is no since going to LOTO.
I will be at the Portland Oregon Poker Run next weekend .
Is there a good safe location on the Delta to make a speed run ,need one mile to run and room to shut down and of course good water with no big rollers. ???

I'm heavily involved with cars and a few car forums, but the Cougar is my first boat, my first cat, and this is my first post on this forum. My father has had several offshore V-Hulls (when we lived in Hawaii) the largest and fastest being a 38' Scarab with quad 225 outboards but the Pacific Ocean is a different world altogether. Now that I'm in the Shasta Lake area I thought I'd try something different. Once I learn my way around the lake and cat scene I'd appreciate your advice on going bigger and faster - but that's down the road. I'm heavily involved with cars and a few car forums, but the Cougar is my first boat, my first cat, and this is my first post on this forum. My father has had several offshore V-Hulls (when we lived in Hawaii) the largest and fastest being a 38' Scarab with quad 225 outboards but the Pacific Ocean is a different world altogether. Now that I'm in the Shasta Lake area I thought I'd try something different. Once I learn my way around the lake and cat scene I'd appreciate your advice on going bigger and faster - but that's down the road. Until then, me and my bone stock Cougar 23 will be happily cruising somewhere behind you... ;)

Question ??? At the Cat Attack I ran 135-138 at 6100 rpm with 10 lbs boost carb was configured as a 1095 Barry Grant ,jets 98's,same prop 16.25 x 28, air was measured at 88. Now I go to Sahsta this time and the only thing I changed was the carb ,it was configured with larger venturies and was now an 1195 ,my first two runs only got 126mph with the same prop.so I change pullys and gained only 3 more lbs and the next run was 130-131 at 6300 ,I did get up a bit more but had to air it out to much and wont count that ,I have to run in just one mile. So WHY !! did it run so well the first time out ,can a trans get weak and start going bad or what !!!
Will be calling BAM and Whilpple Monday for some insight.

Wayne, do you have anything to measure air quality with? If not, was it hotter this past weekend at Shasta than the weekend of the cat attack? If so you could have lost horsepower due to the air quality. Were the water conditions the same? My boat will run 5-10 mph slower or faster depending on water conditions. I have found that it is very difficult to try and duplicate the same conditions from one weekend at the lake to another. Good luck in your efforts. RR

That location may work but would have to start back a little farther remember you have to make a turn at the west end and I have fould at 140 + mph it takes a lot of room to stop !!!!! myboat.

My circle track engine's would get dyno time and then off to the race track for the green flag.
Broke 2 motors in without dyno time under green flag conditions..

Alls OK ! having to deal with some back problems my wife has and she comes before the boat and play time ,being she has been with me for 37 years and putting up with my toys --I owe her !!!!!!!!
The boat ran great at Portland only got 10 lbs boost as the other pullys I ordered will not be in till this friday. It ran 125 at 5800 rpm for the first few miles of the pokerrun and had to back out of it due to a 6 ft roller from a large cabin boat comming at us. When we got to the first card stop on the Columbia River it was white capping and had to just cruise, it was very rough and there was a lot of boats that broke. My back still is sore I really need a bigger boat and will be looking hard now.
Planning a trip down to the delta for a speed run as soon as I get the new pullys on and tested probably the week of Aug 8-12 just before the Big Cat Run.will be launching at honkerCut ,Rod say's there is an area there that is safe for a speed run,will be going for 150 mph. will let ya all know when I will be there.
Becouse the pokerruns are just getting larger and the water seems to be a mess at all the runs I am considering building a 42 Fountain that will run 115-120 all the time and possibly more that way I can run the bigger water and not hurt my back or anyone elses . Ya !!! I know its a V-HULL but I just dont see a 40 ft Skater in my future. So after I break Eliminators record of 144 I may sell this boat either with the big motor and weisman drive or without or built with something esle. All's not for sure yet just looking at options but my wife likes the idea of a 42 ft boat with a bed and bathroom in it !!!!! and still be able to run fast anywhere anytime .

The dyno will tell me if I got more ponies, but this motors a taste bigger. I have some expectations, but will let the dyno tell me if it got there. Actually looking for some big torque numbers for low end and mid range. Builder tells me that big 14 huffer will take care of the top end itself. we will see.

I have seen that baot some where !!!! I have had a lot of jets in the past,running white water was a blast but can beat ya up a bunch.
Went out Sun and tested the new pullys ,the boost came right up to 20lbs so am going to Shasta next weekend for more testing and if all goes well planning to come to the Delta for a speed run on Thur 8/11 just before the Big Cat Run. will know for sure after next weekend.

It's a River Wild made in Grants Pass, Oregon by Bob White, who happens to be RIM's new son in law. The kids love it for boarding but haven't had a chance to ski behind it yet but I'm sure it will be fine. I'm sure that with my fat ass behind it I'll drag it around a bit but it will yank your arms out of the socket comin' out of the hole.

Should be there around 10 am. .Will spend a few hours testing props and getting my jetting right for 20 lbs boost. will be just outside the Obrian Inlet on the Sacto Arm. Hey ! When I had my low profile boat with over the transom headers, I did get pulled over one time because they didn't see water coming out the headers. Since then I don't know of anyone that has been hassled for noise.

Take Interstate 5 North, approx 10 minutes North of Redding, Bridge Bay on the South (this) side of the Bridge that crosses Shasta Lake. :D Great place to hang out :)
