A buddy of mine had similar set up in a early sanger jet and thought it was about 67-70 and it gps at 53. He was sick after knowing it was only low 50's and put more compression pistons, tunnel ram and different cam, really made the motor thump and tuned off a wopping 57 mph. I would say mid 50's most

I had a stock 455 with exception of performer intake under a Carter 600, with log exhaust gps'd 59 at 5100 rpms on a Wreidt Maverick. I rebuilt it 30 over with a tr and one 800dp and now I'm at 57.7 @ 4900. I still haven't figured out what size impeller I have. Talk about disappointment.

My 73 tahiti with a stockish 455 olds and a berk with no diverter ran 70-75 I thought. Once I got a gps and a new boat, I know better now.

Isn't there always a contraption to ruin your story about how fast your boat goes? :D These days it's GPS, before that it was a radar gun. Betch there's a few guys on here ruined a party with a radar gun in years past. ;)
If I was a betting man, 4200 on an A, I'd say 55. I been running an A at 4800 for decades and wish dad had had her radar'd OFF the nitrous for a baseline. He radar'd her at 72 running 5200RPM on the same A with N2O. :supp:
Wait a min,... JP Calc says 4200 eats up 234HP, sorry to throw this number in .... 50.8MPH. I forget I have that program.

That sound like something I would like to do ... I could hear me now (yelling at top speed) ... "see I told you it was a 100 mph boat"
Too, too funny Bud ...

Brian, If your drinking a beer while driving 100mph, the only yelling you will do is " where did my beer go!" not that I would ever know how that could happen! :D Budlight

Fortunately, with the higher sides and interior in my 100mph boat, my beer never goes far. It may be all over the floor from bouncing/rolling/spilling(!!!!!!) arround, but I know where it is, it's close by, and can find it soon as I get back under 70. :D :D

If the pump is tired/loose and the olds is tired also, I'm gonna say 43 mph.

My "station wagon" 18' CobraJet has a 403 Olds in it. I turn my A impeller 4250 with the dog house on. Best GPS reading (with the dog house on) has been 55mph.
I'm gonna guess 55.

Really? Hmm seems slow to me. I should take some pics and have you guys tell me what ive got in it. I think the pump needs a rebuild, its starting to make a rattling noise. 20+ years, i think its due.

Well if you want a boat that runs 50 check ebay the Rangers up for sale again, with a small block turning 4400-4600 I think with a B impellor in a Jacuzzi pump, Solid 50 all day and was easy on the gas too.

How about asking the wife to hold the GPS between her legs next thing you know...no more GPS?

I had a 75 Tahiti with the high compression (10.25:1) 455 Olds that was slightly modifed (alum intake, electronic ignition) and I saw a GPS speed of 64.5 at around 4700rpm if I remember correctly. I think the OLDS 455 was rated at 365hp stock from the factory.
