DOG'S and the MAILMAN

Why do they hate them?? Everytime my mailman comes to drop off the mail she want to kill him but is never like that with anyone else like a door to door sales man or someone that she doesn't know, just the mailman. Anyone got a reason why anyone. Thanks tired of my dog barking at him Dave.

Ours does the same thing! She totally hates the mailman for some reason. Sometimes she gets out of the backyard and will just sit underneath the boat until we get home and on those days, the mail is usually thrown allover our driveway. Our mailman is a total pussy. our dog is an 11 yr old rat terrier. :notam:

I have no idea.. but I can attest that with my dog it isn't just mailmen.. It's ANYBODY in any kind of uniform.

The reason I was told that dogs do not like the mailman is because they, the mailman, come to your house everyday and are never invited in. Therefore the dog thinks you do not like this person. We had a slot in our front door and the mailman would put the mail thru the slot and the dog would actually grab the mail before it had a chance to hit the floor. We had more mail with teeth marks on them.

OK here's the deal with dogs and the mail man.
It's because they cut across from yard to yard, they never come from head on the always come from the side. I had to pick up my mail for 6 months at the post office because my mail man would'nt deliver to my house anymore. He put me on mail restriction until I put up a metal gate instead of the chain link one that was there. He said he didn't feel safe. I have an idea, use the f%$kin walkway and stay the f%%kin off my lawn.

There's a school out Beaumont way I think that will train your mailman (or any other uniformed person) the proper ways to deal with any dog. Word is they guarantee the dog will be smilin and actually looking forward to your daily visits or your money back on the class.

Here's why - your mailman and mail for that matter smell like every scent in the world. Think of how many homes he stops at and how many people and things touch the mail. At least this is what my dog trainer told me.

Here is my .02 cents. I read electric meters for 12 years and the dog trainers told us that day after day the mail man comes on to the dogs territory. the dogs barks and barks and the bad man leaves. It gets reinforced everyday so the dog thinks that every time he comes the dog chase's him off. Same with UPS and all others.

Everybody hates the mailman, but this is pretty much the truth, the dogs get used to barking and the offender goes away. plus the fact that dogs see in black and white, and it looks strange to them to see someone all in one color.

I don't know about you but I know some of our other drivers carry doggy treats with them so the dogs begin to like them.

my dogs are boxers and they had the sme problem so i gave the mailman a frenchie mask and now its like they are best freinds.. :D :D :jawdrop:
