What gives with these batteries in boats. I know my buddy just had a system placed in his boat from Car Toys in Havasu and the system definitely is a nice install. JL Marine Components with JL Marine Subs, i noticed that the subs were not enclosed in boxes rather just the seat base of the fountain were used.
Do those new marine subs not require a box enclosure? How about stinger batteries compared to a generator. Also, is there a situation where your insurance would be void if you had a boat fire due to an non coast gaurd approved generator being used for your stereo.
Car Toys will not recommend a generator due to this reason, I would imagine for liability issues.

The new marine subs are an IB(Infinite Baffle or "free air") design, but will have a little more punch in them when fully enclosed.
Battery vs generator depends on your demands...
The Coastguard and insurance refrence is worth looking into..
