Who does their own versus paying a shop to do it?
I called around and was amazed it's $200+ just to change the outdrive oil and "inspect" my Alpha! $200+ more to change the motor oil, filter, fuel filter, and "inspect". What am I missing? Am I a fool to do it myself?
What do you guys do?

I do all of my own maintenance, I save a ton of money, and I know it's been done right.
Of course, I haven't been laid in several years so I have little else to do with my time.

Probably more than just this thread.
To answer the question, I do all of the maintenance on my own boats since JBB won't come over and help me.

I have someone do my maintainance because on a yearly full service they typically go through everything and will find the little items that could get you in trouble later. These are the items I would typically overlook. Remember they have a trained eye for extra work. A true Full Service will run 500.00 to 750.00 for a single engine boat. That includes engine , drive, impeller kit, misc. rigging check and trailer service.

sorry dog

Just cut off the semi-annual computer de-virusing. He'll come calling in no time.
