Chris, I wish I could be on the river this weekend, or over @ Blue, but I
'll be building the shortblock tonight. I should be able to run the weekend after the 4th, but no promises. I've got a few to commit to Blue for the Labor weekend though. Man, I can't believe my luck with this new motor. The boat was fast for a couple of hours though! We'll talk soon, be careful this weekend! See ya.

I just got a call from Jim Greens, my replacement head is in! Now I want to take the rest of the week off and work on my boat. I'll stop by and grab it today, I'm off @ 2:30 and polish it hard. They have a reassemble, and I should get it back on Friday. That means run on Sat. My fingers are crossed. Malcolm, were you asking me how many people I have commited to Blue, or Chris 468? Matt..

Matt, I was wondering if you had talked some Snohomish river locals into going?

07-07-2005, 11:21 AM
Malcolm, I'm going to thrash Friday @ my place. Jeff with the Red Jetster is coming over, and maybe Chris, I don't know. I can get Big Fat, the Midget (red Hondo white deck) Wade, (Purple flames) Jeff, and maybe Chris for a Sat. run. We've got to do some tuning, (Jeff and I) Weather permitting. Actually, I'm down there rain or shine, I've GOT to tune. Dave, who bought Reeses' piece will go, and maybe Craig (Hallet) We can make a day of it on a moment's notice if the sun comes out. If it rains, it's probably just Jeff and I.

I'm always up for a river run, but this weekend sounds pretty wet. If the weather dries up some I'll try to come down.

Malcolm, I won't know about parts until around 3:00 today. It's not much fun in the rain, so I wouldn't be too concerned. If I do score on a cackle or two, Jeff and I are going to go tune run. That way we're ready for the up-coming good weather. Chris, I'll buzz you if we get parts, you're welcome to come over and help/ have a couple. We all can't fit on the engine, but there's plenty to do.

I was hoping to get the Tahiti out today for some TNT, but it's raining :frown: . I'm working all weekend, but now planning on going to Alder on Tuesday to run it, and try to figure out the problem withthe secondaries. Turned the carb around like it should have been, and will take a 4 hole spacer and an electric fuel pump. Running out of things to try  .
Also, does anyone have the hookup in the Seattle Tacoma area for aluminum stock? I need 4 pieces of 3/4" to 1" flat stock approx. 3" by 4" to replace the current motor mount spacers the previous owner put in (plywood). The plywood has compressed and was letting the motor move around. Have it tightened back up for now, but need to fix it right.

I can get the Aluminum. I have to go to Alaska Copper to get it. Give me until early in the week to get it. Matt.

Malcolm, we did well last night, thanks to the gallant efforts of Jeff, with the red Jetster, and Chris, 468. I picked up the head from Greens' @ 4:00, ran home, thrashed till 10:00ish, fired it off, sounded good. We hit the river this morning, and ran.I tuned on the trailer for 15 minutes or so, got it to idle, and bounce off the rev. limiter @6000. Took it out, Jeff ran, Big Fat ran, we went to the sand bar, and traded Jeff's GPS around, Jeff ran right @ 70 @ 5000. I ran right @ 60 @ 5000, Big Fat was either 1/2 MPH faster, or slower than me. I stopped by Greens' on the way home to report, they feel there's more in the engine, so I'm going to fiddle around with jetting, timing, fuel quality. I want 6000, and I feel it's there, I've just got to coax it out of it. The boat is fast and stable, the engine sounds great, I'm really happy with it, but want a little more. I can't boat on Sunday, unless the war department get's the urge, cuz I've TOTALLY neglected the kitchen project. We're down for some good times, and some good runs to the sunny side though. Soon, guys, Matt...

Well hell, I guess all the fun happened this morning! That would explain why I had the whole river to myself tonight. So what's the deal, scared my 403 Olds would'a smoked ya? :p

Tahiti350
07-09-2005, 08:30 PM
60 mph is all it will do?? :D If I have the math right (probably not) My Tahiti should be running low to mid 60's with a 350 Chevy and a half wahcker hanging off the back. That assumes I have the carb problem sorted out, but should still run mid 50's even if it's not.
I need to hook up with ya'all when the GPS is ther and make it official, or at least find out how far off the math is.

I may have the correct jets, my pressure sender is just @ the output side of the fuel pump, before the filter. I'm running @ 5lbs. I have 3/8" feed lines, and may just need to go the 1/2" line to the filter, and split to 3/8 to the carbs. I've also got to fabricate up a couple of small skegs, the back of the boat really wants to go sideways on hard acceleration. It comes out of the hole hard, and planes immediatly, hits 5000 RPM I mean right now, but stays right there. It should hit 6500 and stay. I'm not going to be a total slave to it for the rest of the year, but I'll do some minor things to get the revs out of it while enjoying it. We have to hit Potholes/ Moses/ Blue this year, plus the river everytime the sun shines. I saw your aluminum in my shop yesterday, but was on the way to the river, so I'll look @ the size tonight. I haven't forgotten your clearance light Chris, and will get that this week. See you guys! Matt

What are the specs on this engine, Matt? 6500 RPM is a lofty goal, that's 800 HP on a B impeller!

MATT HAS ALL THE WIZZY SHIT YOU CAN IMAGINE, HIS BOAT IS BAD.WE ARE ALL SHOCKED THAT IT WASNT FASTER -BUT POSSITIVE ITS GOT ALOT MORE SPEED IN IT. :supp:

Christ, the spec sheet, and receipt list is longer than my arm, Mark from Greens' looked at our build, and is confident it's there. If it aint I've got a 6-71 ready, ( actually dying) to go on. We'll get there, but I need to do some enjoying while we think. ( Read drink beer)
