I'm looking for middle of the road "IN WALL / IN CEILING" speakers for my house.
Not going to pipe sound to all room just two surround sound setups in two rooms. i would like to mount the speakers in the walls and ceilings.
Anybody have a heads up on where to go in the Orange County area or brands and websites?
Thanks in advance.

Check out the polk audio inwall speakers...
I think they sound better than the infinities, and they are a little cheeper. When I sold home audio they didnt get returned much at all while the infinities did all the time!
Just make sure to get to ones with two drivers and a tweet..
Good luck

There are lots of good speaker mfg. I personally use Jamo in walls they have been building in walls for years. Most of the big name guys like Polk Jbl they were a little late jumping on the band wagon for in walls. Those companies build nice speakers they're behind in the learning curve though. A company Like volutone can point you in the right direction.

What about RBH for In-Wall speakers? I have a buddy who's done some installs with these and he swears by them for an In-Wall setup. I have heard the floor models and they are very nice.

I've installed alot of the speaker craft speakers they are a great speaker , and they truly won't break the bank. They are another company that has been building in walls for a long time.

Any opinions on Sonance? I used to do a lot of prototyping for them.. There engineering dept, and facillity is pretty impressive. :)

Not sure what speaker crafts I have, I think they are the Aim 5's, or whatever the best one is that they make. I am extremely happy with them. Sound as good as my klipsch tower speakers that I had before, and about 1/10th the size.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Cha-ching
As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
I have some bad ass Bowers & Wilkins (Sig 7 NT) in ceiling speakers plus a center channel, but they are VERY pricey, but then again, I am running super clean 425 watts per channel to each and every speaker (5), so no cheapy speaker would take that kind of power without EXPLODING !!
Hope your speakers work out for ya' !!

I wasn't disparaging the brand, I was just signifying that they were expensive. When I build my next house, it will be all Sonance in wall speakers.
Sonance is very nice, but try and listen to the B&W's and maybe the Thiel's if you can find them. Like a clean, loud ass friggin' concert in my house !!

I just bought these for my pad at the river:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5782634681&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
The guy is in Lake Forest, ships ASAP and his stuff is awesome for the money. He even does "Make Offer" on eBay, I picked those up for $150 (plus tax) with FREE SHIPPING all within the confines of eBay. I just sent him the offer of $150 and within a couple hours, my speakers were on the way.
Uh Bob, I'm not sure you want to hear this but you might have way overpaid using that eBay thing...

Helpful tip:
Should I Install Rectangular Speakers in the Ceiling?
Of course they can, however, in the experience of our installers, who've installed many a speaker before; no matter what you do to align, measure and prepare, rectangular in-wall speakers just never seem to appear lined-up. From the floor looking up, the perspective tends to make them look askew. That is why the default shape for in-ceiling speakers is round. The whole point of flush-mount speakers is not to draw attention, but if they're crooked-looking, they definitely will!
It is also in our experience, however that somehow, vaulted ceilings are the exception. They usually look fine installed there - which is probably related to the angle of the wall.

Never thought of that... I've always said what vendors have said as round bezels look more at home because they kinda go with round can lighting.... Plus hard edges attract the eye...

All of that cash and nothing matches huh? I guess the center and the sub do. How much are the speaker grills/covers? 50k for the set? haha...
I bet those sound nice!

You could probably throw some billet grilles on those for $25k. :D
They'd have to re-engineer the entire speaker for that... everything has resonant frequency....
I thin they should throw them in..
HB, The center and sub match ... that's all that matters... :notam: :D

I have always been partial to CERWIN-VEGA excellent bang for the buck.

I've got the Speakercraft running throughout the house and in the backyard. the house sounds great but I'm looking for something better for the yard.
Also I don't want to start any rumors but i think Speakercraft was started by a couple of Sonance guys and they are basically the same product with a much lower price tag. I also have heard that if you are partial to Sonance then get a quote from Speakercraft first, they don't like loosing to them.
Or do your self one better, just call ROZ and say Handle it here's an open PO
