Decided not to pick up a new car payment for now (saving for a home) And I need a newer car. I have a line on a 98 Suburban with a little under 100k for $7500. It's fully loaded and has been serviced religiously with reciepts and is in imaculate condition. Fresh tune up, tires and brakes. 350 w/ 4 spd. auto, tow, etc. Beige leather, bose w/ cd changer $7,500. Should I do it ? What components go bad on these cars first ? I tow a 2k lb boat, so I wont be pushing it too hard and it has never towed anything before. Thanks for any input guys.

Find out if the fuel pump has ever been replaced. Check the wipers. That motor goes out. Other than that, just little things like the lights going out in the stereo buttons.

Those vortec engines had a few issues, namely intake gasket and waterpump leaks, and the fuel pumps are crap. Pay a competent mechanic around $40 to do a thorough check up. Money well spent to avoid a potential nightmare :(

'95 C-1500 1/2-ton. Wiper motor has gone out, tranny is starting to show signs of wear. Did front end work about 7k ago-new tie rods (inner/outer), idler arm, pitman arm etc. Truck runs incredible with 122,000 on the clock. I would say buy this Burban. It still has some good road time left.

I would say get it as well. My brother has a 99 Tahoe with 122K on it and it still runs strong. Although I am not sure if there is a big difference in teh 98 and 99 models though.
