will a intake grate, help cure "slipping the pump" from a dead stop, I am told ba old jb pro-racer that every jet slips just before roll over to plane, will a scooping grate help stop that, my pump is tight and impeller is in good shape
it's a berkley jg (internal clean out) with a 460

Sounds like you may need an inducer to stop your problem. A loader will kind of block the water flow until you get up to speed.

Not sure About solving the slipping problem, but I have the exact falcon in yellow 64 H/T 302, aluminum GT-40 heads, comp hyd roller, air gap intake, C4 and posi 8". I feel a trip to havasu when it cools off coming on!!
But i'm not sure how well it'd pull the jet boat
Nice ride.

I agree with jim, an inducer preloads the pump. They really help with cavitation....
