I'll be down Saturday morning before noon.
The Hi-Tech crew left at 5 a.m. Friday morning headed down.
They will be running the new purple Cheyenne "Blown Assets".
I'll be hanging around the HTP pits so everyone stop and say HI!

Great racing, what an awesome event, we spent alotta time watching from the bridge of the starting line and man that was a cool spot. The pits were cool too, with all the trees and shade. I hope this turns into a regular event, which with the turnout it could be very easily done. Ken F I looked for the hi tech pits but couldnt find it anywhere. Jet hydro I looked for you also and couldnt find you either.

DD,
It was really hard to find different peoples pits wasn't it? I looked forever for the HTP pit when I arrived Sat. morning. Never could find Jet-hydro or the Leas Bros. either! That part is kind of a mess, but what a great track!!!
Even with some gusting wind, the water stayed very calm having a levy on both sides of the river. The "out" lane for the boats was quite something too.
Don't know if you got to see it or not, but pulled the HTP boat out once, and I was really impressed. It's all concrete, with sloped sides, and a great ramp.
They dug it specially for the boat drags!
It's really great to see a city get behind something like this on such a grand scale!
Sorry to have missed you, and I'm sure it will become an annual event.

Yeah i found the easiest way to find a pit was to go to the out ramp and wiat for the pit crew you were looking for and follow them back to their pits. So if you didnt see jet hydro and I didnt see him either and he didnt go, does that mean he will show up this weekend ? ? ?

It's true , I had gone out first round so I went over to the bridge looking down on the holding rope when it happened , by the time he cleared the lights it went right and he came out and the boat went to the shore . Thoughts and prayers go out to the family ,freinds and the team .

Man Loses Life In Drag-Boat Racing Accident
POSTED: 11:50 pm CDT July 10, 2005
OKLAHOMA CITY -- A 31-year-old man was killed Sunday after his boat crashed during a drag boat race along the Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City, emergency officials said.
The driver was pulled from the water around 5 p.m. by emergency divers working at the event and transported by ambulance to the OU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, said Oklahoma City firefighter Jon Cook.
The driver's name or hometown weren't immediately released.
The victim showed no signs of life when he was pulled from the river and had massive trauma, said Cook, who was on bike patrol with another EMT when the accident occurred. Witnesses to the crash said the driver was ejected from his boat and slammed into the side of it, Cook said.
"We watched them as they crossed the finish line, and it's incredible how fast they're moving," Cook said. "I know one boat went 224 miles per hour in a quarter of a mile, so they're just skipping across the water."
The inaugural Ozarka Bricktown Nationals drag boat races were held Saturday and Sunday along a stretch of the Oklahoma River just south of downtown Oklahoma City.
Attempts to reach event organizers were unsuccessful.

I was at the end of 5th street where the out ramp is. If you`d have drove straight when coming out of the ramp you`d have ran in to the motor home. We got the boat to run in the 2 round so we were ready to party in the 3rd but as I saw my friend laying on the water all I wanted to do is go to the out ramp and pack up. Glad they made the call to end it right there because I wasn't gonna race anymore. That was my little girl that was up on the bridge yelling at me "Love You Dad". It was good to see ya again Ken.

It was really good to see you too Steve. I sure did want to see your new paint job while there. Man those pits were really hard to find anybody in ya know ???
I was really sad to hear about the accident. He seemed like a really nice guy from DragBoatAlley....Guess that's the risk that goes with the sport. We all know it, and probably choose to think "it won't happen to me." Someday it can.
Sorry for the loss of your friend Steve.

The driver who was killed was my friend, David Skalicky. The name of the boat is Bad Boys Dixie Express, blown gas flat. David and his dad, Larry, were some of the nicest people in this sport. David will be sorely missed. I can't begin to fathom the grief and sorry that his family must be feeling. For the record, the boat chined in right after the launch and David was ejected, then the boat floated over to the opposite bank. Our prayers go out to the Skalicky family. They are from Crockett, Texas.

I don't know what round you saw me race in Ken but in 2nd round I subed it on the line spraying everyone beside me...lol When we got to the out ramp they all told me thanks cause they were so hot I cooled em off. It seem`s that I had a little trash under the boat so when I stabbed it the ass end went up and revved the motor up to 9600 :220v: When I got back to the pit this is what I found ....rotflmao
After that I put my 7000 chip back in ...lol

It was back on the motor after dunked the sponsons on the starting line. When I sucked up the trash it was like closing the bucket, the tail went up and the nose went down. Some where in all that I picked up the stow-away. He was not in the best of shape as you can see he`s got a few cuts so he got the 1/4 mile ride at no charge. :D

I was told another boat had the same problem as me after I ran my second chance but I did not know it was you . I took off the line and could not get the pump to grab or get on plane so I was a little pissed and kept trying to get it to go felt a little clung about half track and the boat took off so I guess I got some trash in at the in ramp or I also had a little buddy for a ride along ?

Shark In The Pond If you were the boat in the out side lane I was on the rope at that time and saw you trying to make it go. Is your boat dark colored? I hope they don't drop the net in the water next race. 3rd round I made them clean me a spot before I`d put in. I`v got to pull the pump apart and see how bad it is after hitting those kind of rpm`s without any water in it. :hammer2:

I was in a black boat R R 065 . My buddy here in Lubbock worked for American Turbine while they were here and told me to get the ass end off my pump so that he could go through it again , starting to slip anyway so looks like fresh up time for me .

I know what you mean, I`m sure I ran enough trash through mine that the wear ring has to be bad. That big rev with out water should have killed it. It still pulled hard but seem to slip on the starting line after that.
