I dont know Ive seen plenty of blown boats get smoked by natualy asperated motors. I'm still waiting to see those boats come to ming and lay down some numbers that i keep hearing aobut. I personaly will take a natualy asperated motor any day of the week.

you can quote me on this- i burned more fuel in 3 miles of driving at blythe than I have any other day at the river. I was literally flat footing my boat for 9 seconds at a time all day long on sunday. the water was just that good. The only time I've had that much fun running my boat wide open is at Ming.

First off I want to thank Bense for driving my truck and putting my boat in the water for me. I know it's not fun with no power steering.
I want to say this place was very cool... great sandbar to kick it at and check out the other boats. Everyone down there seemed pretty cool and I still can't believe how many blower motors there were. I felt out of place having the only fiberglass scoop.
It was a lot of fun and cool to see all of you guys. Well worth the trip and I plan on making that trip again this year!

Like I said I am not capping on the sport. I love it. I have been to ming A BUNCH. We were talking 2 weekends ago how its sad that it is dying.
Bring Fans- Get money- Give purses- Attracts racers.
Bring it closer to home your idea with elsinore was key. Puddingstone used to be Rad. I know it won't happen there again because homes, but turn out was great. Make it so racers and Fans want to go. People in So cal don't want to drive to Bako to WATCH. Shit most of the time I don't want to go, but sometimes I do. 2 weekends ago crowd turnout was very low, so was the boat turnout. Plus there was a lot of down time. We were joking why don't they just call all boats to the ramp. Maybe this was due to Chow. Don't know. I know ... most everyone would be able to help if were here ... but there is that damn spiral again ... I wasn't pointing fingers at you ... just at the situation. I wish it were better also, but ALL org.'s are having the same problem of smaller boat counts since the 90's (NJBA, IHBA, SDBA, CDBA) so there's not much one can do but hope and try to do the best we can to keep it alive.
This is where you guys come in ... running the river is and was the beginning. River hot rods in the 1960's was where it all began. With the reborn enthusiasm over the last 2 years of river hot rods ... I hope that you will all be going too fast to want to run in an uncontrolled enviornment. Then our work of keeping a safe place to run (safe meaning rescue boats/teams) alive will have been worth it.
I truly miss not having a river boat anymore only having the race boat ... that's why I am here ... watching you guys and all of the fun you're having. It keeps me in touch with our place in Parker (in which I haven't been in 3 years ... I should go out ... but have no time).

Brian- to boost the boat count let the river guys come out and pay 10-15 bucks a pass and run as many passes as they want. My only gripe with the river racer class was only getting one or two passes per day. Let the guys come from the river, pass tech and make all the passes they want. Imagine how much extra cash that could bring in. Once they are hooked then they'll step up to a regular class and voila- new racers! If the njba doesn't start baiting the young guys to race now, in 5 or 10 years there wont be anyone left. the children are our future! lol :D

Busby, you are doing a great job of trying to resurrect the NJBA. The problem you have is that you are cleaning up the mess that former NJBA members left you. When the NJBA and KCBC were working together on the races, you had the KCBCrunning the gate and collecting the monies from the gate. The NJBA had no interest in the money coming through the front doors so they did not advertise. KCBC did not try to advertise and get people to come out and watch so there were no spectators. Now you have young new faces like yourself that are commited to revive the sport but you still have some old school board members that have no desire to promote the sport. It is a tough road for you and I appreciate your efforts.

I was gonna go run him but i didnt want to lose in front of my click of friends! :rollside: We need to get some quick disconects for that motor of yours its getting to be a pain in the but to keep changing it in and out of the motorhome.Maybe we can cut the dash out so the blower will clear also.

Hey Bense is he sure its a Earl Smith 16 never seen one with three points in the front with out a raised up T and goat ears.
It kind of loos like something Jimmy J and Dan Rosen from JBE would have had a hand in building.Looks more like a Youngblood 18 tunnel and a banshee mixed,I had heard JBE had built some thing like that.What are the letter and numbers on the back?
