Who has the best Merc. service in Phoenix or Havasu? I'm having problems with my 2002 500EFI and need a certified Merc. shop for service.

I just had my boat serviced in havasu, or tired to. What ever you do dont go to ALCO MARINE that shop is full of the most worthless, lieing scum of havasu. I Sugest Jeff Blosdale at Sand Point, or if he is buisy JC marine. I left my boat at alco marine for a week and the told me to pick it up and take it to another authorized merc dealer. Bottom line they couldnt fix the boat. I Droped off the boat 496 ho with Jeff @ sand point, he had it two days and it was fixed. He found the tripped sensor and cleared the boat out of garudian mode, a cool $50.00 fix. Where ALCO tried to sell me a new motor. Regardless boat now runs perfect without spending 10k on a new motor. Thanks Jeff.

I believe Phil Bergeron is qualified give him a call 480 834-1531
Bergeron Marine (http://www.users.qwest.net/~bergeronaz2/). Don't let the V-drive thing shake you. There are always high end boats there. He is very busy this time of year. Cant hurt to call.

Jeff sr. did just pass away, but his son works as the mechanic at sand point marina. Jr is just as good as his father with the same great service.

Aaron at Absolute Speed & Marine in Lake Havasu services our 2004 525 with no problems. I don't believe he is Merc Certified as of yet, but he has done all of the service for us after the initial 20 hour break-in and he and his crew have been great! He is the only one that I will let service our boat. Absolute Speed & Marine 928-855-2252

I live in Carefree AZ (north foothills of Scottsdale) and have heard good things about Bergeron. I recently was looking for top notch service and called over to Gary Shoemaker at GS Marine in Corona CA. He writes teh tech articles in the boat mags, holds an old top alcohol drag record etc.... and has a nice shop and a great rep. He recommended the following as being state of the art in AZ: I called there and they were very service minded and cordial - good start and you can't beat the recommendation.
Larry's Engine & Marine ( Larry Peto i think is the guy)
(520) 623-5373
Tucson AZ.
Also
I lived in Havasu for 5 years (back when) and you usually run into hit or miss there - usually miss. However, I had my boats serviced by:
Gary's Auto & Marine Svc
Address: 140 Lake Havasu Ave N, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403
Phone: (928) 855-6555
He was a very honest straight forward guy and the fact that he has grown the business over the past 15 years says something but I have not been there in many moon's.
Let me know if I can help further

You don't need Merc certified for simple maintenance.
With that said Aaron at Absolute Speed and Marine in Havasu is the best. And he is building his new shop three doors down and is supposed to be Merc certified. He left Savage to run his own shop and was working on the cert. I read that it was because you have to sell new boats or something to be certified so he is going to peddle a line of production boats at his new shop.

That is exactly what Aaron told me last year when he showed me the plans for the new building.

Extreme Marine or Sun Country down the street. Both located in North Phoenix. Something simple, I would take it to Hale's in North Phoenix. Johnny the mechanic is very good and Ed Hale is usually around.
Hope that helps.

I currently have an appt. at Sun Country for drop off on Aug. 8th.
The motor is cutting out at high RPM's. It will run fine for a few seconds above 4500 RPM's but then cut out and drop RPM's. It's acting like vapor lock. 72 hours on the motor and still under Merc. warranty so I want a certified Merc shop and someone who's familiar with 500's. Both fuel filters have been changed and I ran about a gallon of fuel through the system to purge air. I've done all I can do.
