there is no god public camping the only spot is the main marina
the spots by the water are great but not many of them and it fills up fast
the upper part is good if you have an RV there are hookups
I would post a link to the web sight but its down right now

Go to the Pine Knolls campground next to the general store. It's right on the water and it's closest to the marina.

Also can you leave the boat in the water overnight?

Yes Yes and Yes. You can put your boat in a slip for $15/night or when I was there in April the water was literally and the edge of some campsites and those campers were pulling the boats up there. I don't recommend the the latter of the two because underneath the water were bbqs and wooden poles. I recommend the campsites just below the playground. It's the biggest w/ the most shade. Have fun.
