Last Sunday, I noticed I was not getting a Water temp reading, just sat at 0. Other than checking the connections on the back of the gauge, where should I look next to verify the connections are good.
Appreciate any assistance.

If it's an electrical gauge, check the wire at the sending unit!.. :)

Well, I havn't messed with those but I would just look for a sending unit that goes into the water, intake manifold, head?, there's one someplace!.

Remove the wires going to the sending unit and take about a 6 inch length of spare wire. Place one end of wire on the tip of the sending unit and the other end on the block somewhere to ground it...Make sure your key is on so the gauge can register. If the gauge registers all the way full then you probably have a bad sending unit...Good luck trying to find one, mine went out last year and I had to go to 4 boats shops before I found one, cost about $16

It sounds like the sending unit is BO.

If you have one heat gage, it most likely to be on the intake manifold.

Mike Should be on top of the intake manifold towards the front, at least thats where it is on my BBC.

Once you find it, put in a mechanical gage, they don't lie. I took my motor down because the oil temp was showing Supper Hot, it was broken.
