Just a quick question,,,,,,,,,,,I have two jet boats, and the insurance is high......... I have been with state farm for lots of years..........and my agent says the premiums are what they are............
Is there a lesser expensive insurer out there.......I am not sure state farm insures many jetboats...........comments please

You're lucky to have any ins. at all.
I switched boats last year. AAA carried my first jet(1985 Caribbean 400 HP) for 6 years without a claim for $275 a year. When I tried to get my next jet(1979 Roger's 800 HP est.) insured, I was told to forget it. Their stated reasons were that it was too old, it had OT headers(as did the last jet) and had too much power.
Needless to say, I dumped AAA. I've yet to find a carrier willing to write a policy for this jet...

I have Clarke Garvey Marine Insurance Services. I think I pay $330 a year. 1994 Caliber 1 206SKR jet drive with a 502. They beat everybody elses price by a lot. Call Jay Schreiber @ 800 695-1995.

I have State Farm ins on my 1976 Sidewinder w/ 455 for only $150 a year full coverage. They didn't ask me a thing about Headers, but they did go by my stated value of $3500 and the HP figure on the title, which for some reason says "100HP". My agent asked me If I thought that was correct, and when I told her no, she said: "Well the state probably just measures it diffently."
"Yeah..umm, remind me not to do any pulls on the "Official State Of IL Dyno" expecting big numbers."
My rates are probably lower here than out west because of a shorter season and less drunk, naked, boaters than say, Havasu and the river. But, I would glady exchange lower rates for more drunken nakedness if I could.
Also, when I lived In NV, my roomate insured his crappy 1977 Hawwiian 19' I/O runabout as "antique & collectible" for $25/ year because it was 20 years old (in 1997). I think it was through Farmers, but I'm not sure. We thought it was pretty funny, but might be worth a shot if you have an older boat.
