Damn, I just got back from Tahoe today and let me tell you it was one of the best boating trips I have ever taken. The weather was 80-90 everyday and sunshine. The water was spectacular for running the boat. The crowds were minimal as the lake is so large there is plenty of room for everyone. People were downright freindly and everyone waved at everyone else...my arm almost fell off. The water is extremely clear...and yes cold but refreshing none the less. There are so many places to go with your boat and the lake is the most boater friendly I have ever been to...docks and lines to tie off at almost every destination. Anyhow here are some photos...sorry no provocative ones as this was a great family trip. Oh yeah and Chris Ayers from Poker runs West put on a great little event Saturday...25 boats doing a run from the keys to North Tahoe, Garwoods, sand beach...etc. Met some cool peeps that race offshore. What a blast and I'll be back for next year for sures.

Most everyone runs mufflers...but for this event they werent to strict(I didnt bring my gibson mufflers). I didnt see one officer on the water thats how relaxed the whole experience was. I was always afraid to go to Tahoe because of all the rough water stories, stuffy people etc. It turned out to be well worth the trip. I had my buddy tow my boat up there for me...and he got a free weeks vacation out of it. This is the 3rd year I've been to Tahoe for the 4th but the first with my boat. The fireworks show is the biggest west of the missisippi and they werent lieing. Next year Im definitly going to round some ***boat peeps up for a Tahoe 4th trip now that I know a few of the ropes. They even have a Tahoe Performance boating association...very freindly boating town for sures. Oh and a ton of Excellent dining restaurants from relaxed to 5 star, hiking, biking, fishing, gambling and I did it all.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos everyone!
The tow was fine...we took 395 and made it in 8 hours. The altitude is 6200 feet...I jetted the boat down 3 jets sizes and dropped one prop size....the boat still ran 110. I have a video but I dont know where to post it...its 40mbs ???

Deano, Tahoe is a great lake. Rough usually, but the cops are pretty lax if you are not a jerk. This is the 1st 4th we have not made it up there. Let me know if you plan on making another trip up there. We have a place in S.Lake near the keys.
You gonna make the Force Regatta Sept 11 weekend? We are going to make the tow.

You can take almost any boat on that lake as long as its early most of the time. I saw 20 foot daycruisers, wakeboard boats, bass boats, ferrys...just about all boats shapes and sizes...I would however not like to get caught in the middle of the lake when that wind kicks up though in a smaller boat. Other than that stay close to the shore areas and you should be fine.

Cool. I had a buddy with a cabin right on the lake by the casinos.
His parents sold it. Damn! Awesome place to stay.
One winter we stayed there in December. Totally awesome.

Hey Dave, There was a little poker run put on by Poker Runs West and Chris ayers. They meet up there once in awhile. If you go to the site www.pokerrunswest.com they have a few more excursions to the lake this year. I would highly reccomend it. My boat does about 130 at lake havasu so I lost about 20mph's at Tahoe....no biggie though I didnt want to miss the scenary going to fast.

Maybe next time. Its fun crusing around in my 25 on Tahoe but I may have to leave the poker run for when I "grow up" a bit, if you know what I mean. ;)
Or maybe not, just say f-it and make a run.
I know from spending time on Tahoe (alot) that you can usually see the bad weather coming so you have time to make a run for it. Just gotta know what to look for! The weather is really not that big of a deal if one is prepared. Most of the time its really sunny, warm and nice, as you found out!!

Hey Im part polar bear...watch out. Seriously though the water is cold and the deeper you dive in the more your balls shrink! :D
In the keys though the water is very warm and you dont have a problem swiming...my daughter swam everyday for hours. Oh and at Sand beach the water is 10 degrees warmer than the lake. Very nice. We did hike up to Eagle lake and jumped in that...now that was cold.

In Montana we had beautiful lakes, obviously fed by melting snow, and dammit they were cold. Tahoe may be a little warmer, but not that much. Whenever you have a lake and the surrounding mountains still have snow on them...YEAR ROUND, you know that f'er is going to be on the chilly side. :D

Oh yeah one other thing...do not leave food on your boat. I got up one morning and there were open bags of chips all under the bow of the boat. It was a freaking mess...candy everything was strewn everywhere. Seems the racoons are not shy about entering your boat. They just threw the candy everwhere after opening them and only ate the chips. I tried to get a photo of the focker but he was to quick.
Hes hard to make out but hes running on the deck..second photo of him running for the next house over.

Isn’t there boating restrictions on Lake Tahoe?
I think 2 stroke motors are NOT allowed, right…My Black Max would probably not be allowed…besides, the high altitude make my boat run like crap…
Sure are great looking photos!

Hey Deano
I was at Tahoe over the 4th also. We didn't have our boat there but I was riding with my brother. I think he was on that poker run on Saturday morning. He had the yellow Eliminator. We didn't get to the lake until Sat afternoon and he was telling me that the run was awesome. H couldn't believe that they were running over 100mph for so long. He had only taken his boat for some short speed runs before but this time it was 100mph almost all the way across the lake. No one backs off.
Hope to see you guys some time between Havasu or Tahoe.
Randy

That is the boat. Runs pretty good for no blowers. Steve and Lynn, in the photo are from Reno. I'm in Lancaster. We usually make a couple of trip a year to Shasta, a couple to Tahoe and a few over to the river, either Havasu or Mohave. We will be in Havasu next weekend.

No I dont have a place...I rent a house in the keys every 4th. THere are some nice places. They are pricey though but to me worth every penny. If I go again this year I'll post about it beforehand...if not I know I'll be there for sures next 4th of July!

My in-laws own a house in tha keys, and they rent it out. The dock is no where near as big as the one in the pics, but it is a straight shot out to the lake. They are on Christie. It looks like a swiss chalet or somethin. Check it out.

I will be in a 30' Advantage, White with Maroon. It has a single motor with a blower. Can't quite keep up with you guys.
