23' Howard Offshore?

I'm thinking of buying a 1990 23' Howard Offshore but have only seen them from a distance and never ridden in one, just think they look cool. I live in Orange CA and was wondering if anyone in the area has one I can check out and get a closer look at, for sale or not for sale. Anyone have any opinions or info on these boats?

I think Howards are a great boat how much you gonna spend? Is this what it will look like. They seem to be narrow.

yep, thats the 23' Offshore. It's a narrow Cigarette style boat. Really long Beam. My buddy had one back about 92' that had a Blown 502 it ran mid 90's and handles the chop like it wasn't there. We were runnin back to Katherines on Mojave one time when the wind came up and white capped the lake. We ran between 70 and 80 the whole way back like nothing. There isn't much interior room but its a bitchen boat and rides nice.

I think Crusader picked up those molds and ran them for a few years. I dig that hull. Even saw one w/jet. It had some Bud-Lite thing the bow. I'd like to pick one up to play with.

I've got one and love it. Kinda small inside but it rides and drives like a bigger offshore boat. Feel free to ask me any questions. :D

Not sure when Howard started building this model. I think they got the mold from crusader in the late 80's. Mine is an '89. Its got a 454 mag that has a LOT of hours on it. I run it hard and it has never let me down. Avg. top speed is right around 70mph.

looks like im gonna have to make a stop in havi to check that boat out, you keep it nice and ride it hard, thats the boat im gonna start lookin into for my next boat. wanted a scarab 22 with a 454 but this looks like more of the boat that havi can deal with. hows it cut the big wakes? looks great :D :D ;) :clover: :idea:

What big wakes? :smile: Honestly it does very well in the afternoon chop in Havasu. I have actually ran it in the ocean a couple times and it did great. Felt a little small out there but I never got nervous. Well except for that time when I was in approx. 5 ft. swells. LOL!!!!!! Keep in mind the inside seating area fits 5 people, and thats it. Its got a lot of room under the bow for storage though. Heres a couple more pics.

love that boat, do have pics of the interior. im going to ebay and boat trader, this boat is what i really want. i saw one two years ago and no one i was with could name it and i havent seen one since. not many out there huh? you keep her clean, that says it all :)

well could'nt find one. i'll keep drowling over yours until i find that hull. and i have just three in tha family so i'll do ok with the seating. offshore, like catalina?? :D :idea: . i've got a jet and need a bigger boat for havi and powell. this looks like it :idea: :)
