I am going to sell My Tahoe, and take advantage of buying a new Chevy on their employee discount deal. Which is better (owners) Avalanche or Tahoe. Either way it will have to be a white 4x4 ! Any suggestions or pros or cons???
Anyone who posts Ford or Dodge comments are gay! :D

Neither the Avalanche or Tahoe are worth it. Get a real truck - either a 2500hd or a suburban w/the 8.1 gas. Better yet, wait for the Suburban/duramax next year.

Already have a suburban for a work truck fully loaded. Don't need all that power for an everyday driver

Get the Tahoe. It's more practical.
The Avalanche is for confused people. Do I want a truck or do I want an SUV? So as a way of solving that they buy an avalanche that has less room then an SUV a small bed that is almost useless and it's still basically a truck. Just a truck with a useless bed. Avalanche :yuk:
The Tahoe is an SUV through and through. However if you need room you can always pull the seats out and you have a TON of cargo room. The interior is way nice and roomy plus it's got plenty of power to tow the boat.
My vote goes to the Tahoe.
Get the Tahoe, Get some 22's and Get'r Done.

I just bought an Avalanche and I love it EXCEPT the seats are not comfortable. The seats on my old Jeep Grand Cherokee were like sofas....very nice. The AV has more of a bucket seat so your forced to sit very straight. Hard on the back for long rides.........something that isn't apparent on a test drive.

I bought an Avalanche from Jay Photoglou...........I love the truck. I hooked it up with rims/tires, billet grills and a ton of other stuff. Got it without all the bodyhardware/plastic. Love the look of it. I was going to get the Avalanche 2500........but Jay talked me out of it. This truck fits my needs and it can tow what I need it to. If I didn't drive so fast and have the AC on all day I would get 18mpg, but I drive all city streets with AC so I get 14. Just my .02.......go with the AVY.

I drive an F250 but my brother in law has an Avalanche and I really like it. It really depends on if your carry crap that is taller or longer than you can carry in the Hoe. If you ride dirt bikes or carry large crap get the Avalanche. The plus for the Tahoe is that you can call it a hoe and no one can get mad.

The Avalanches are real nice but real heavy because they are built on the Suburban frame. Don't bother with the 2500 8.1 Avalance they are pigs.
Tahoes are and always will be nice there just too exspensive.....
I picked up a crewcab LS 1500 from Jay last month for right at $22.5 (Sticker was 33K)
The truck seats 4 very comfortably and it towed our boat great.(Get the LS package and make sure you throw in the 3:73 gears and the G-80 locker)
Good luck with your search both of the vehicles your looking at are hot hot hot!

GM's version of a locker.(Makes both tires spin when you hammer it in a straight line-helps with traction on the street or boat ramp)
It's decent until about 300 rwhp unless you race the druck on a drag tire.

Neither the Avalanche or Tahoe are worth it. Get a real truck - either a 2500hd or a suburban w/the 8.1 gas. Better yet, wait for the Suburban/duramax next year.
FYI: You can get an Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1 and HD transmission (not the Allison tranny).
Next year all of the GM trucks including Avalanche, Suburban and Tahoe should have the Duramax/Allison tranny combo available.
They're essentially all the same trucks so it's your choice.

If this truck is going to be your daily driver then CHEVY hands down. They are more comfortable but have less room inside. And since they have independent suspensions the ride is softer as compared to a ford.
The disadvantages of the Truck in my opinion is they are not very roomy compared to the same truck (Crewcab) Ford.
Now if this is a tow vehicle that will be used primarily hauling kids toys trailers buggys boats etc.. Ford is the winner, tougher suspension more room and now with the Alison transmission and the new 6.0L Diesel how can you go wrong.
In the end it is what you like, not others. Good Luck and be sure to call Photoglou

WTF does that mean? You saying the 8.1L motor is no good in any of their trucks or what?
I honestly don't care for the 8.1 in any of the GM vehicles. If you need something to haul/tow a big load with go with the Duramax/Allison combo.
Why not pony up the extra $4K for a real tow vehicle?(If I wanted a people hauler/tow vehicle like the suburban I would get the Excursion with the 6.0 Power stroke)
The 8.1 parts are hard to come by unless you pay top dollar and order from the AZ speed and marine website.Standard bolt-ons seem to do little for the truck.
Lastly,
They make decent torque but really lack in the HP department. It is not uncommon for a 5.3L to make the same HP and about 40 less TQ then the 8.1L while getting a ton better gas mileage.(Hardly impressive considering the displacement)

Hey Nord:
I will throw my $.02 in like everyone else. If you do alot of freeway driving, i would go with the Avalanche. The longer wheelbase (same as suburban 130") just drives better on the freeway. My wife's Tahoe is nice but once the 20's were on the thing seemed a little squrelly on the open road. Not to say the tahoe is bad but if you drove them back to back, you would know that i mean. I also like the fact that there is a little bed if you ever needed to carry something that you did not want in your cabin area. I guess it comes down to you personal preference. Go drive them both. if you like the way your suburban drives then get the Avalanche. if you want something nice and short, get the tahoe.
Ryan
