Is common for an engine builder to give a build sheet showing engine specs and parts in an engine you have built?

You mean about an engine 'he' built for you?
I would think any builder engineering a proper selection of performance components lists or offers a itemized build spec on his choices.
No? aka'Infomaniac'? You might want to decifer this.

That depends whether it's a basic motor or if it's a super high dollar motor that has the builder's so called top secret formula for power, but regardless they should give you the basic specs on the motor!..

I am thinking of selling this motor. I know approximately what is in it, but not enough to inform an interested buyer with accurate info.

I always got one with the engines that came from Clay Smith. Parts, what everything measured and specs for valve train and timing adjustments.
Oh, and an detailed itemized invoice showing were all my money was spent.

Having second thoughts e-ticket?
If the engine was built for you by a shop ask them for a build sheet.
A top secret recipe engine may not have every detail. It may say Oliver Billet Rods but maybe not the length. It may say Comp hydraulic roller cam but maybe not the grind.
They should provide the measurements, clearances and settings for tune up.

A build sheet is very important There is no secret if your the customer. You need to know. It is after all your MONEY I know guys that have Bought motors from guys so called good shops when something went wrong some one else went in to motor it wasn't what it was supposed to be.My thought is it should be item by item spec.by spec.Good people who do good work have no problem. It's not just your engine it's your MONEY There no secrets in your motor. :D :D :D :p :p
