   I went to lake Kaweah yesterday afternoon no sooner than I started my boat and started to idle out from the ramp, BAM, I was hit with the lights. The lake patrol stopped me because my boat was to loud. I was running my new zoomies "no bafffles or mufflers". He asked me where is your water injection into the exhaust system? I told him "don't have one". He told me to start my boat and run it going about 20-25 MPH. Then turned on the light again and told me to put it on the trailer. I have had some previous runins with his boss and was told to at least run mufflers or baffles and to stay away from the marina and absolultey do not open it up by the shore. I think the big thing with them is to run water. I will not run water but will run mufflers or baffles.
Well I came home last night and removed the zoomies and installed the mufflers in them. I'll see what happens next.

Super full only one ramp now.
I have been pulled over every single time I have been at the lake. I even had headers and water w/mufflers and still been pulled over. I think it is just because the way my boat looks!   I think the next move is through the transome exhaust??? :frown: :frown: :frown:

Ask them if they will be safety for you and let you get in a pass or 2 1st... :p
The cops want to see you run, and want to stay out of trouble. if you do a pass or 2 and then people see the cops escort you out, no one can complain
This is also a great time to say something along the lines of.... " Shoulda Bought a Wacker   :p "

Funny you should mention that. That is exacly what I did at Success and that cop sat there and watched and all was good!

What are the laws there about water injection? I know for a fact that here in AZ, you do not need water injection unless your motor is covered by a hatch. As far as the noise goes, well, you know the answer to that. Good Luck.

The bottom line is 84db is the sound limit. Most all the lake that I have been to will not bother you if you at least have baffles or mufflers. They just do not want you near the shore where there are people or near the marinas. I am going to the lake again tomorrow and see what happends. :D :D :D
Kim was a real cool patroler but he is no longer with us bless his soul. Roland is real cool too. Now the rookie???

Lake San Antonio doesnt care about the noise, I was there last week, I think as long as they see water through em there okay. except a guy made a pass one afternoon with I think zoomies, of course he took off after that before he got in trouble

Is that sound measured while idling or cruising

Boatmike

I was on the Ca. boat law page and it does not specify, but as long as the boat is capable of meeting the sound laws at an idle you cans still stay at the lake even if you just have to idle around. ;) ;) ;)
