In the process of getting a cat (24-26"). Trying to decide on how much power it will take to have a consistent 100+ mph boat. I would like to stay NA, but do not want to run race fuel. I put a lot of hours on my boats and am trying to get away from the $300.00 a weekend gas bills. Any info will be appreciated.

Just a guesstimate from reading the other posts, 750HP in a stern drive package. My suggestion would be to run a relatively mild blower motor if you don't want to run race fuel http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif

around 750hp but you better be planning on hanging out in the channel all day if you want to stay away from the 300 dollar bill.i could spend 300 in a day but i love to run it.

your going to have to spend some serious dough to build a n/a motor that makes a true 750hp and can run around the lake all day with out burnin' through parts

I'm not concerned with HOW to make the power,(used to do it for a living) just curious on how much it will take. Thanks for the input.
Boatnam-how the hell do you go through $300.00 a day with a single engine? Unless you are running some type of race fuel. I go through 300.00 in a weekend with my twins, but I do like to cruise a bit myself.

quite a few times i went thru 2 tanks in one day 80 gallons 2 times.160 gallon's 2.00 a gallon.i figure when i was hauling ass i was getting about 1mpg parker is 11 miles long or something like that so if you hauled ass one time damm to damm that was about 20 gallons.i use to run my boat morning until dark and then some it wasn't a bouy queen.even if i didn't run it to hard i would still empty a tank a day so thats 320 bucks so that is close to your mark.

Yeah I guess it is. Hmmmmm......thought I might do better on the gas mileage with a smaller boat, maybe not!
