i think this new car sucks. the one of chevys worst designs yet. i never even heard of this vehical tell now, but it is already due out for 2006. i am a die hard chevy fan. but gm does need to pull there heads out of their asses. i hope they dont redo the camaro. i can really see them screwing that up to. and it is an underpowered front wheel drive 4 cyl, designed to look like a 49 suburban. the ssr was designed after a failed 49 chevy ute. and that bombed. i never hear anything about the ssr. general motors needs to wake up fire all the people in charge of research and design. get some balls and start designing some better cars. instead of playing it safe. gm will find themselfs broke.
the hhr sucks

GM has stopped development on the new RWD platforms... for the forseable future is FWD/AWD. Which probably means no new Camaro. I also heard on one of those Sunday morning car shows that the GTO won't be imported after 2008... and will be replaced with something domestic, probably FWD... :hammer2:... more "Fiberglass" high performance cars.
... and wasn't Bob Lutz shown the door recently??
I live and die by GM products, but I don't know how much longer the general can hang in there.

Chevy did do market research. They called it "A study of who buys PT Cruisers."
Problem is no one buys them anymore. Chevy does not have a clue.

I have driven Chevy exclusivley both personally & business wise since 1979.
I kind of like the looks of this new car, but a little small for a guy my size.
It does have potential.

From the AutoWeek website...
That was from late last year, before the cancelation of the Zeta platform.
GM has hinted that the next-generation GTO, scheduled to appear on the Zeta rear-drive architecture for the 2007 or 2008 model year, will be a large departure from the current model.
This is what GM's current boss has to say about RWD cars:
Wagoner also said rwd cars are "not a massive profit-driver decision in the near term." He added: "We need to do it right. In the scheme of things of what's going to drive the business over the next three or four years, this isn't the most critical item we're looking at."
So it looks like sometime after 2008 until we might see a new RWD platform...

if i was in the design team. i would have never brought up the pt cruiser wanna be.but hey that design dont look to hard to do. cut and paste a ssr front end to a astro van, and call it the HHR

I bet they sell tons. It will be a pricepoint version of the Burby. You have to remember, they are in the biz to make a buck, and right now, that truck fits a lot of lower income families.
I personally wouldn't piss on the thing if it were on fire, but I bet they sell a lot of them.
Look at the Ford focus, an ugly no power price point car that is Ford's #1 seller

i know what you were saying... lots of people buying throw away cars now.
What i dont understand is why it's sooo different from the SSR. Make a 4-door SUV styled SSR, rear wheel drive, 6liter etc, and i'd buy it

Damned 1/2 tons aren't rated for a 1/2 ton anymore either, but they ride nice... :220v:

Looks like a mix between a PT Cruiser and Fords Escape small suv to me...everything new looks a little funky at first until it grows on you, and in person it often is better.

you are right on that one. at first i didnt like the 03 silverado and thought the 02 was better. but i didnt want a used truck and 0% intrest was nice. so i bought a 03 silverado and now love it. it just grew on me. plus i recived one hell of a deal on it.

So what you're saying is that everyone who spent all their savings and pay 35% of gross income to pay for a house in SoCal will be able to buy one of these :D

I think who will buy them are single moms priced outta the mini van/suv market, and don't want to be a Focus station wagon MOM. The PT Cruiser and the HHR will be an affordable alternative.
Ya might see more of these than ya think.
