I've got a 78 Charger with a bbc and a dominator. After a WOT up river, I've got no oil pressure. Stock truck pan under the motor. I'm looking to get a pan, and maybe put in an oil cooler...Thoughts, comments, guidance? Anybody got one taking up room in the garage? I've also got a set of bbc Glenwood logs I might part with or trade if anyone is interested....

I would recomend a bigger oil pan & oil cooler to everyone that owns a boat. I would try LOng Beach this weekend, there is always oil pans & coolers for decent $$$.
You may want to call JIm Brock @ 818-890-1867, he usually has pans & coolers.

Thanks Brent, I figured as much. I was planning on going to Long Beach this weekend, I was just going to see if anyone had an old one in their garage that they wanted to get rid of. All this good weather is scaring me into action on the boat. Time to break out the coolers, lawn chairs and get it done.

I have a used 10 Qt pan if you are still looking. It came off a 502 Gen V motor. Let me know if interested and I will get a pic for you to look at.

disco, Watch out on what pan you buy, a v-drive pan is set up differant from an out-drive or jet, the trap doors swing the other way. Make sure you get a large enough pan ( 14 qt's) and make sure it has a built-in drain. If I were you I'd check your gauge, you shouldn't run totaly out of oil pressure on a strate run. Is it mechanical or electrical. If it's electrial, go to mechanical, they don't lie.

Thunder, no oil pressure is a bit of an stretch of the truth. I get down to about 25 psi (which scares the hell out of me). It pulls about 40 psi under regular loads. I do have an electric guage, but it's an auto meter, and I trust it pretty well. Next winter I'm planning on pulling the motor, and then I may switch to mechanical.
Thanks

Hey Brent, I emailed you. I'm interested in the pan! Maybe we can make a trade, you take my wife for a week, and I get the pan...J/K, you take her, you got to keep her! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif I'd love to purchase that from you (assuming it's not your favorite pan, and it's not secretly laced in gold) http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif
